Right after they pay California’s share of the national debt (which I hear is a lot) they are free to go but you don’t get to run up your debt and then leave.
I have always pondered why California wasn’t split into at least two electoral districts.
Only Liberals would nominate and run for president a crooked serial liar, under FBI investigation and then cry when their candidate lost.
Now maybe they will understand the 10th Amendment.
They can secede AFTER they apologize to the Confederate state and pay reparations for the destruction.
Brilliant has the best reply. I recall, from a while back an army general being asked by a group of Texans whether they could secede.
HIs response was (to paraphrase) that such a question had already been settled.
From sea to sea the U.S. is our land. If you don’t like it then leave. It would be good for California as the housing crisis should resolve itself then.
Perhaps governor moonbeam should be first.

Our federal system was originally set up to be a union of sovereign states allowing for differences between each one. The real solution to their problem is states rights. When the majority of important decisions are made at the level of the central government states have less control over their own lives.
Being smug about forcing your onions on others diminishes the validity of your objection when it comes back your way.

Newsflash - The bottom half already belongs to mexico. The signage is in spanish, the restaurants are all mexican and many TV and radio commercials are now in spanish.
Exchange all non-military federal assets in the seceding territory to the Chinese for their debt holdings.
Just be sure to build a wall to keep Californians out of Texas. We see what Californian immigrants did to Colorado and Nevada.

You have that right. Send the illegals packing. At present California is 51% Hispanic, and growing. The southern half of California is lost to the U.S. and is rapidly becoming Mexico Norte. Every time I get something in the mail showing new appointees to gov’t posts, they all seem to have Hispanic surnames, and I feel will legislate accordingly. Spanish as a second language is required in a lot of jobs nowadays. Although I live out in the country, my postal zone is in a little town that is 82% Hispanic and very few people in the street, if you ask directions, actually speak English there. One of my best pals is Hispanic but she can’t actually speak Spanish, so she is just as lost in that little town as I am.
Californian people produce lots of good stuff. Of course, there should be trade with the seceding territory. I even think we should respect the rebels’ intellectual property to a certain extent.

I say if CA secedes, that is the whole state, I will secede to Texas!
Maybe if the rest of the country stopped going to the crappy movies spewed out by Hollywood it would help kill that propaganda industry. Hollywood is liberal California, yet it is supported nationwide by movie goers across the nation, by the very folks who complain about liberal CA.
