We have always done a ton of stuff with Norway. When I was a Marine, we went there with two regiments for NATO type exercises. That’s way more than 350 men.
They;re not going to nuke Norway. There already marines there. I was in the Mountain and Arctic warfare cadre, and there has always been a presence in Norway, and yes we we saw the Russians and they saw us on their so called fishing trawlers.
It’s just me, but the picture would make me say “What happened to VN, Cambodia or Laos? At least I could take my shirt off there.”
Looks like Europe will be whining for help in the future...
It’s a training deployment. The USMC had the Nordic AO as an area of responsibility during the Cold War. We’ve been sending Marines there to train for cold weather and alpine conditions for decades now.
President Trump would order a Carrier Strike Group (or two) off the waters of Finland upon hearing such a threat.President Pantsuits would display another “reset” button and secretly (no live mics around) promise nothing but flexibility...for a $50 million donation to the Clinton Crime Family Foundation.

It’s not just 330 marines, it’s the forward positioning of war stores. For the riskiest it would make sense to make sure that stuff never gets into action. Better yet, they could just give it all a nice thorough coating of a persistent nerve agent.

The headline as crafted by the editor is blatantly false (no fault of yours my FRiend). It was designed to get hits. The story says Russia might put Norway on its target list.
That’s like saying the Russians said they will nuke New York when all it means is that NY is on a target list.
Are the prevailing winds west to east in that part of Europe?
If so they would be irradiating parts of Russia—not a good plan. ;-)

BIG DIFFERENCE - in being a nuclear ‘target’ than threatening to nuke. IRRESPONSIBLE HEADLINE All enemy targets are subject to being nuked...just as Russian troops are nuke targets for us, no matter where they are.

“Russia threatens to NUKE Norway in response to allowing US Marines to deploy in the country”
Jesus it’s like this is the age of Yellow journalism in the early 1900s.
Yet another glorious day for the USMC. Two companies of Marine grunts arrive, and someone concludes that nukes will be needed to stop them.
