As a father, I would have zero toleration for any child of mine switching gender roles. If they want to explore being the opposite sex, they are free to do so once they reach legal age and can make those decisions for themselves and on their own dime.

I think that mothers are instinctively more accommodating to things like this. They feel it is their role to nurture and be sensitive and caring, even when long term harm occurs to the child. It really comes down to the father to put his foot down and stop this kind of nonsense in its tracks.

If there was a father at home. With the great number of single mothers and divorce this can no longer be assumed. But while at Lassie Veterinary, hospital employees kept referring to Fido as a girl, and “she went into a spiral,” her mother said in a phone interview.

“She was frantic,” the mother said. “They were making her worse. They were completely traumatizing her. They actually made her use a bathroom - a toilet - when there were nice trees and even a fire hydrant visible out her window. It was like waterboarding!”

It’s sad that this mentally ill girl had an equally insane mother who fed her delusions. A decent parent, or (silly idea - two married parents in the home) might have given her a chance to overcome her irrational beliefs and accept reality.

Exceptions to the above rule

Yup, and I'm sympathetic to them, and would expect society to deal with them politely, just as we (mostly) have over the past 4-5 thousand years of civilization.

But to expect society to utterly change itself to fit the whims of an unbalanced few? Ridiculous.

I'm interested, in a morbid sense of curiosity way, to see how the "LGB" part of the "LGBTQIADFFFDXYZ" community deals with this "newfound" issue. For a long time, being Gay/Lesbian was "edgy" and an excellent way to get the attention that attention whores craved.

Now, "Gay/Lesbian" is soooooo 90s, and "Trans"/"Gender-Fluid"/whatever is where it's at. Edgy. Guaranteed to get ALLL the attention. Might be interesting to watch the ensuing "I'm more oppressed than thou" slapfight that's sure to be coming.
