Indiana DOT worker gets blowback from nasty email to New York Times columnist

An Indiana Department of Transportation manager learned the hard way that when sending a nasty email to a New York Times columnist, don't send it from your official account.

David Brewer, whose email says he's a "manager of external audit" at the department, emailed Times columnist Charles Blow, presumably in response to something Blow had written.

Brewer critiqued the writer's grasp of the English language, called him "ignorant" and added a joke about cocaine and Blow's surname. It was unclear which column Brewer was unhappy with.

Blow shared the email on Facebook and on Twitter on Thursday, tagging the Indiana agency and asking if maybe Brewer should be working during office hours.

The department agreed, sharing Blow's post on Facebook and saying the employee has been suspended without pay and the matter is under review. . .

Their approved for Doxing topics also include voting records of private citizens. At least, this has become a routine tactic in California. Many who voted against gay marriage had their businesses boycotted or online presence slandered.
They suffered no consequence for these violations of privacy.

It was in 2004 that some clown who worked for a state’s Dept of Transportation was harassing FReepers here and saying how smart and superior he was. It turned out that he was posting from his work computer while he was supposed to be working. Well, he got turned in and screen shots were sent to his boss and the guy was fired. Yep, he was smarter than all of us. The Rat Underground went apoplectic because I think the guy might have been one of them.

Blow is, despite all his other problems, a total jerk with an arrogant elitist attitude and obviously feels entitled to punish “little people” who step out of line and have the temerity to criticize him. Blow has the right name but I wasn’t thinking about pot. Screw the N Y Times. They should be grateful anyone even bothers to read their crap.

Not an invasion of privacy. Voters’ registration records-—name, address, and party affiliation-—are a matter of public record. Anyone can look you up.

The individual in this story was an employee of the Indiana Department of Transportation. His salary is paid by taxpayers.

By law, state employees’ names, job titles, and salaries are public record for exactly this reason-—taxpayers absolutely have the right to nail public employees caught goofing off on the job.

This is in fact an excellent tactic which conservatives should be taking advantage of. Libs know about it. Why don’t we?

The guy would have been fired even if he used his own/home (and not government/job) email account. He targeted a member of not one but two PC protected classes. Had he only targeted a straight white christian male he could have sent the exact email(s) - even from his job email - and paid no penalty.
