Louisiana has been hit by devastating flooding, and thousands of people have lost everything. Eleven people have died.
President Obama is currently vacationing on Martha's Vineyard, and aside from signing a disaster declaration five days ago, has otherwise not commented on the situation. (He did, however, have time to go to a Hillary Clinton fundraiser.)
Compare this to pop star Taylor Swift. Swift, who began The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana last year, said that she appreciated her fans in Louisiana and was heartbroken by the devastation in the state. She then pledged to donate $1 million in relief money and encouraged others to "help out and send [their] love and prayers."
Swift released a statement to the Associated Press:
"We began The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home. The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking," the 26-year-old said in a statement.

"I encourage those who can to help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time," Swift said.
What a weird world we live in where a pop star is doing more PR about a disaster than the president of the country.
I am not a fan of her, but I applaud her
Yes - several years she also donated to the horrific Iowa flood victims.
Xanadu!
I really don't know what this means
How old was Taylor Swift in 1989?
From her bio

Early Life and Career
Taylor Alison Swift was born on December 13, 1989, in Reading, Pennsylvania. Swift spent her early years on her family's Christmas tree farm in nearby Wyomissing. Her grandmother had been a professional opera singer, and Swift soon followed in her footsteps. By the age of 10, Swift was singing at a variety of local events, including fairs and contests. She sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" at a Philadelphia 76ers game at the age of 11, and began writing her own songs and learning guitar at 12 years old.
To pursue her music career, Swift often visited Nashville, Tennessee, the country music capital. There she co-wrote songs and tried to land a recording contract. Noting her dedication, Swift and her family moved to nearby Hendersonville, Tennessee, in an attempt to further Swift's career.
good job. We need more stories like this
Taylor Has Money?
It’s been great here in Mobile seeing all the fund raising and collection points set up all over town for non-perishable food, toiletries, cleaning supplies, pet supplies, etc. Everyone is stepping up to get some help to those poor folks.
My 19 year old daughter is a pretty big fan. I have to admit she has a few catchy tunes.
bam will not be blamed for this. He has a free pass to go on vacation while a bunch of poor whites lose their homes to a flood. The media already convinced the people that Bush hated blacks over Katrina.
“and aside from signing a disaster declaration five days ago, has otherwise not commented on the situation.”
He was a no show for the recent West Virginia flood devastation as well.
Remembering Katrina, 5 days after the hurricane hit, Bush had been pilloried in the press for not doing enough, the FEMA director had been fired, and Bush had visited the scene. Plus the media and every Democrat politician, including the Chocolate City Mayor who failed to deploy hundreds of school buses and the LA governor who refused to coordinate with the White House, were calling Bush a racist for abandoning the black people of New Orleans to the storm.
Good on her, except...In how many Louisiana Democrat politicians’ pockets will it wind up? Like the money intended to maintain the levees and drainage system pre-Katrina.
How old was Taylor Swift in 1989? One of the trimesters, I think.
Would luv to see Trump visit before Obama or Hillary use it for a photo-op.
I always remember her as 14-15 here in Nashville
She has grown into a pretty leggy thang but given how I see her I can’t sexualize the vision like with most girls
My daughter used to love her...though recently, Ms. Swift has been tinkering with the "dark side" of show business--hanging out with the likes of Lena Dunham and her ilk. Ms. Swift should watch what she does, lest she end up like a Dixie Chick.
We saw her as part of the Rascal Flatts tour at the state fair in Laramie, WY in 2006.
She was pretty good for a 16 year old, but not quite as polished as a singer/performer...:^)
Rascal Flatts were good, but even in the outdoor stadium the sound level was deafening.
Obama goes golfing.
“Oh well, it is just a bunch of backwood, buck-teethed, red-headed, Cajun white crackers, with their guns, their boats, and their guns to shoot alligators with, and churchy on Sundays. FORE!!”
Where is David Gregory howling about “corpses in freezers and raping chilgren” because of (Oboma) Bush?
quite a vocal range as well
nothing though (voice wise)- holds a candle to Judy Garland IMO
