The one in Knoxville TN on Broadway is closing as well. (Going out of business sale - not much left) - should be closed by next week I think.

The Maynardville Highway one is still open.

Amazon, Home Depot, an actual supermarket, even the local dollar store—almost anything is better than having to cross the threshold to the atmosphere and customer service of a Walmart or another of this type of store.

When they started making most Craftsman hand tools in China

Suicide move right there. That's when I stepped off too. It's sad to see Sears go. They had Craftsman tools, which was the every guy brand and they have an unrivaled parts supply. You can buy a part for darn near any consumer machine or gadget made in the last 25 years from Sears if you can provide them any information at all. We bought a Kenmore washer and dryer recently for the express reason that I can buy a part from Sears and fix my machine myself.

Other way around in the 2 in my driving distance. 1 is in a bad area you need a gun to go into, the other a 2 hr round trip, with a ugh Target just a couple of blocks away, which is just as high priced.

What will this do to Sears. The one closest to me has closed, in fact all the anchor stores moved out of the small strip mall because of crime. It looks like a ghost town, with a few niche 20’ish stores that see little business.

What’s up with the Hancock’s closings? Both of ours are.

I do not want to see Kmart or Sears slide down the tubes, but both of their past policies have caused me to just stay away.

Kmart with their gun policy, and our stores for a while purposely told their employees not to help customers. I was so ticked one day when a sales lady ran away from me I just tracked her down and asked her why she did that. She said it was store policy, that if a customer has to look for something, they will find and buy something else.

Don’t get me going on Sears.

“I’ve got shirts that are forty years old.”

:) My longest (a summer short-sleeve, button front) made it 19 years. I bought it in Boca Raton, Florida. I threw it away (holes) last year.

Good job on the clothes, B4Ranch.

No one is taking in the price factor, Kmart is equal to Transgender Central Target, which is higher than Walmart for the same chinese poorly made crap.

I can shop the Navy Exchange...all high priced chinese made junk. 1 Vera Wang cloth wallet $200 BUCKS. Noting cheap there but shoe polish and laces.

Macy and Dillard’s are the same to high priced for the chinese made crap. ALL geared to the under 25 age groups. Seniors are out of luck unless all they want are T’s, jeans and maybe sleep or under clothes. Forget shoes if you wear a 5 and want flats or low heels.

Hancock’s fabric is going into bankruptcy and closing 185 stores.

Lived on Saipan and Guam after WW II (1948 - 1950). Only kmart ( :) ) we had on Saipan then was the Navy supply ship that showed up periodically with powdered milk and other delicacies. Would love to visit there again. Now in SE US after 31 year fling in Silicon Valley.

That hope and change isn’t working out too well is it?

The "change" part worked out pretty well. We definitely got some of that.

The one in Hazleton is a dump. I would like to see a Marshall's open in their spot.

Our local (western Wisconsin) KMart has a Soviet Block Eastern European feel to it. The lighting gives off a grey appearance and it just looks run down. Our local Sear store is quickly trending in the same direction.

My guess is that Sears will soon transition to an appliance and tool store.

What do you expect from a chain that stocks its shelves from Wal-Mart’s dumpsters?

So they don’t have a Wallyworld or a Costco on Guam?

My wife and I were loyal Chefs Cataloge customers. When we found out they were being closed, after having been bought out by Target two years previously, I it was when I became an activities to close down that immoral and Anti-American company.

Target can rot in Hell!

I suspect we are about to see a new wave of bankruptcies. Hastings Entertainment just went Chapter 11 last month. Bank of America, its primary creditor, immediately moved to sell off all its assets.

Same here. I have a Kmart and a Walmart about the same distance from my house. I go to Kmart because its easy in easy out.

Kenmore used to be Whirlpool, but since 2008 it is a Korean company.
