A local pastor said he was told his advertisements on bus benches in Colorado Springs would be barred if they use the name Jesus.
Lawson Perdue, a pastor at Charis Christian Center in west Colorado Springs for 15 years, said he was told if the name Jesus was allowed, hate messages would have to be allowed, too.
Perdue said his church has been advertising on transit benches in the city for the past three years, using various Jesus-related campaigns. Two years ago benches said "Celebrate Jesus," last year benches said "Experience Jesus," and now benches say "Jesus is Lord."
Loving and worshipping Jesus Christ makes one an enemy in today’s society.
God save America from our sins.
Denying the pastor the right for ads will not hold up in court. My church puts those bus signs all through the DC Metro every Easter.
This is to make it more comfortable for the muzzies who are streaming in to replace us.
But it’s ok to have Muslim messages, messages about global warming, homosexuality, or anything supporting a liberal cause.
Interesting that this is taking place in Colorado Springs, which is home to some large Christian ministries.
Does this pass the smell test?
You would have to allow “hate” messages, or stretch a bit, would you also have to allow pornography too?
It strains believability that there are no standards which can be upheld, if you open the door to a religious statement.
It’s a state actor prohibiting the pastor, so it is state, NOT a federal, issue (the “incorporation doctrine” is flawed, has been weighed, and found utterly wanting).
The issue is what is in the CO State Constitution.
Sounds like they hired Johnny Manziel’s lawyer to give his legal opinion
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christs sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
And If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner? Therefore let those who suffer according to Gods will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good. (1 Peter 4:1219; ESV)
“because one person complained about the advertisements.”
The tyranny of the minority over the majority.
If the Pastor complained about gay advertisements on Mountain Metro Transit vehicles he would probably be condemned for hate speech.
Yup. Only complaints about certain ads will be used to take them down.
Selective enforcement, on top of it. They wont even be consistent. If one complaint works to pull one kind of ad it should work for all ads.
Wonder what Jesus makes of all this post-modern atheism....
Simple solution:
“Allah is not God and Mohammed is not the prophet of the one, true God.”
I don’t see the term Jesus there...do you?
Yeshua
That would probably work, since they would have no idea that is the name of God.
He is preparing to deal with it as prophesied.
I’m sure you agree.
