BRUSSELS: EU chiefs on Friday told Britain to start negotiations to quit the bloc "as soon as possible", after outgoing Prime Minister David Cameron said he would leave the negotiations to his successor.

"We now expect the United Kingdom government to give effect to this decision of the British people as soon as possible, however painful that process may be," said a joint statement after Britons voted for a Brexit .

"Any delay would unnecessarily prolong uncertainty."

The statement was issued by EU president Donald Tusk, European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker, EU Parliament leader Martin Schulz and Dutch premier Mark Rutte, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the bloc, after crisis talks in Brussels.

Cameron announced he would step down to make way for a new leader by October, adding that the new prime minister would be responsible for officially triggering Article 50 of the EU's Lisbon Treaty to start Britain's divorce from the bloc.

Mighty sour grapes isn’t it? Sounds like a bunch of people who are scared because they have been found out to me. The scam is over?

They need to get out of that overly bureaucratic socialized union which only drags down the countries associated with it.

This means the EU Bureaucrats want to exact severe punishment ASAP as a signal to all other countries that they will pay a heavy price for exit.

Again, counterproductive and spiteful.

Which is WHY people want to leave.

That was fast.

Who likes the EuSSR?

No one who cares about freedom and national sovereignty.

Good riddance!

Reminds me of Obama and Hillary wanting to tax people who want to become expats.

Perhaps the stupid, vindictive , immature, venal EU think they are going to punish Britain for leaving

They are going to get their asses kicked by an emerging Trump led Ango-American alliance that they are forcing into existence

If the EU is supposed to have made trade and travel in the EU easier I’d hate to see how bad it was before. I worked on a project in Bulgaria and shipped things acros Europe. It took days that could become weeks to make a truck transit from Germany to Bulgaria because of all the regulations we had to deal with.

And TAXES! You can hardly imagine how expensive the taxes are.

A non-binding referndum in a sovereign (yes!) country. The four presidents can’t force Britain to do anything. Britain can (and hopefully will) take just the time needed before opening Article 50 negotiations.

I am sure the next PM will be soooo sorry he delayed a new treaty or soething of that nature, but there it is, old sports.

Some very pissed off bureaucrats relegated to empty bravado and puffery. They are pissed because they won’t have a release valve that allows millions of useless Muslim EU ‘citizens’ with unfettered settling rights to the UK now.

They are truly the emergence of the 21st Century Nazi party...except that it should be Mazi party....guess what the ‘M’ stands for.

Milo said it best I think. SJW is at is peak - the absolute best and most effective it can be - and it IS losing, badly.

Somehow, PC, social justice and the bullshit of ‘diversity’ translated into outright oppression doesn’t set well with people just wanting to be FREE.. Free, dammit. Free to do what they want without some effing pompous do-gooder bureaucrat (immune to the havoc they cause) telling them what to do, what to think and how to live. Eff them. Deal with your social justice in your own little protected enclave asswipes.

Isn’t interesting, from nObama to EU president Donald Tusk to European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker to EU Parliament leader Martin Schulz to Dutch premier Mark Rutte to David Cameron, all of these great and serious world statesmen are now sounding like a room full of petulant children.

And from the the other side all I am hearing is, “Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey Goodbye.”

I really don’t know why but I feel as happy as I hope to feel on November 9?

You nailed it. That’s exactly what they’re afraid of, but the unravelling process has already begun.

The FTSE is only down about 2.5% now and steadily recovering, a sign that normalcy is on its way back. Other countries will take notice.
