Time for a ‘No Buy’ List on Guns (how about licenses for journlists?)

THE massacre in Florida is a horrifying reminder that terrorists don’t need airplanes to kill scores of people: All they need are commonplace firearms. Gun-control groups are already issuing calls to do more to keep suspected terrorists from buying guns, while those against stricter gun laws say we shouldn’t deny people their constitutional rights on the basis of mere suspicion. They are both correct. But there is a solution.

Federal law bars felons, the mentally ill, drug addicts and people convicted of domestic violence misdemeanors from possessing firearms. Nothing, however, prevents a suspected terrorist from walking into a gun store and buying as many guns as he wants. According to a report by the F.B.I., more than 200 people on the terrorist watch list legally bought guns from federally licensed dealers in 2010.

Time to Boycott the New York Times and its
Advertisers to Oblivion

All that is needed for murders and rapes to continue
is the lying pro-terrorist MSM, such as the
New York Times.

Proof of balanced reporting should wipe out most.

Great comment about journalist licenses.

How about a “no-write, no-report list” for those shown not to be trustworthy?

How about a 1 issue a month limit? People should only be subjected to so much of their dreck.

The more progs push their gun-grabbing agenda, the worse the Dems’ chances in Nov.

(See 1994 midterms)

He made the BIGGEST point AGAINST his argument right there.

the DONT NEED airplanes, guns, knives, swords, bats, blackjacks, brass knuckles, chemicals, radiation, pipe bombs, Molotov cocktails, etc. because there IS ALWAYS something handy to kill people with.

Like a car full of explosives.

BTW, good thing Europe has a gun ban because there’s been NO SHOOTING attacks over there /s

No law bars felons, the mentally ill, drug addicts and people convicted of domestic violence misdemeanors of practicing journalism. Nothing, furthermore, prevents a suspected terrorist from walking into a stationary store store and buying as many pens as he wants.

If background checks could NOT stop a wife-beating guy who knew suicide-bombers and sometimes ventured abroad for weapons training and was targeted for investigation by the FBI THREE times, then WHO would the checks stop...?

The problem with barring people on terrorist watch lists from buying firearms is that you give them a means of determining if they are on a watch list or not. Generally, we don’t want terrorist suspects to know that we are watching them. If someone is on a terrorist watchlist, and they buy a firearm, it should trigger closer observation. Blocking the sale would be counter productive. The fact is, the FBI dropped the ball here.

What could they do in Vegas?

I would agree if there were a mechanism where you could search the list and to challenge your name being put on the list. All at no expense to the person on the list.

There are no “no buy” lists on sale of guns (gift too) between jihadis, and from trunks of criminals cars.

There are no “no buy” lists for pressure cookers, knives, swords, other sharp oblects, gasoline, gas cans, matches, and cars to be driven through crowds.

Liberalism is a mental illness that preys on those they scare.

"And 'Waiting Periods' for editorials"

Not just editorials.

Waiting periods and licenses would apply any media production, including movies, music, the spoken word, as well as soup labels.
