Donald Trump entered his pow wow with House Speaker Paul Ryan Thursday in the driver's seat, emboldened by a new poll that shows voters want the Republican Party to be more like the real estate tycoon, not the 2012 vice presidential nominee.
Rasmussen reported: "Nearly half (47%) of GOP voters now believe the Republican Party should be more like Trump than like Ryan. Thirty-two percent (32%) disagree and say the GOP should be more like Ryan. Seventeen percent (17%) opt for neither."

If they want a party like Ryan, there already is one, it’s called ‘The Democratic Party.’
But what does it take to make the GOPe comprehend this? We are tiring of the idiocy. They have only themselves to blame for the current “revolution”.
This election is boiling down to the establishment of both parties, the donor class, and the people they have hooked on the dole against the American people.
That’s pretty much it...and Donald Trump by connecting with the people’s frustration has made this happen.
He is a populous, often crass and profane...but I believe he sincerely want to help America turn around and has been saying the things that tens of millions feel will help make that happen.
He is not strictly a conservative or a constitutionalist...though his stated policies are far more conservative than any of the GOPe candidates he defeated.
More GOP Primary voters voted for him than any other GOP Primary presidential candidate in history...so yes, the party...as in the voters...want this to happen.
I believe there are tens of millions of Democrats and independents want it to happen too. He will tie into them as well and they will cross over and vote for him.
I believe it is going to be more than enough...I pray with all my heart and will work to help it happen.
Anyhow...just my thoughts.
I get a kick out of the neocon RINOs on TV saying Trump needs to “bring along conservatives” - as if a.) they’re the conservatives and b.) no conservatives support Trump.
Meanwhile, every survey and exit poll shows Trump winning a majority of every Republican segment.
I ratify your thoughts.
People think its about Trump’s brash style - but that only works if he is pushing an agenda people want - and they don’t want this current free trade ideology and globalism open borders. When did conservatives embrace free trade as a principle? It’s not what the founding fathers did and it was not the historic position of the GOP. The Democrats of the confederacy wanted free trade but GOP favored protection of American industry/manufacturing. We had our greatest innovations and amazing quality control under that manufacturing trade system.
“But what does it take to make the GOPe comprehend this?”
They understand it. They don’t CARE!
It is that consultant/lobbyist class, the people who have been RUNNING and profiting from our elections, who will lose under a Trump administration. Trump has proven by his campaign that there is NO NEED for the bunch of blood sucking liars. They are amoral and have no ideology they just do the big $$ bidding.
you mis use the word conservatives
the word you mean is isolationists thaqt view the world like pat buchanan a la 1930’s republicans
Paul Nehlen is already stomping that clown and will be keeping Wisconsin's Senate seat warm when Trump gets there.
People who are into polyticks are paying way too much attention to this non-story.
Pet peeve.
Oh, you mean a party with some intestinal fortitude (aka: BALLS.) Or are we just going to be spoonfed some more bullishit by the GOPe about how the uniparty is the way to go, all while being repeatedly stabbed in the back for fun and profit by political/financial alliance.
If we want a party like Ryan, we'll vote Dhimmi C rat!
I’ve mentioned this before, specifically relating to Romney positioning himself to run third party.
What we are seeing here are the maneuvering a leading into high-stakes power negotiations to pull Trump as far into the GOPe fold as possible. Ryan, and Romney for that matter, can’t give Trump the Presidency. But they can do a lot of things that could deny him it.
So they’re using that leverage, backed up with tangible actions, to force Trump to negotiate with them. Ryan will endorse Trump, Romney won’t run third party. These are shots across Trump’s bow.
The beauty of the thing is that these sort of negotiation tactics and maneuverings are an environment that Trump excels and thrives in. Which makes it all the more fascinating to watch.
Further poll results:
People prefer sunny weather to a tornado or typhoon.
er...ya, house seat. Wishful thinking that we could get rid of Ron Johnson too I suppose.
**Republicans want party more like Trump, not Ryan**
From this headline to Trump’s ears.
Someone needs a poll rather than the primary results to tell them this? They are very dense indeed.
Republican voters want a party that actually stands for something.
