I have and idea!

Vouchers. Tax credits. Charters and the full ability to designate where you want your education dollars to go.

You get to send your tax dollars to your Marxist-run government indoctrination center ( oops! “school”). I get to send my tax dollars to a conservative organization that funds conservative schools through scholarships.

Yep!

Sports drive a lot of what goes on in school policy. In my county there is one high school. Kids are on a bus for 3 hours a day ( 1.5 hours each way) just so the football team can have 3,000 kids to choose a team.

I’m all for vouchers and charter schools.

In the real world today there are two ways to get your kids into better schools. You can spend tens of thousands of dollars to send your kids to private schools, or you can move to an area with better public schools, which means higher rent or mortgage. Those who buy a house in a better area not only get a better education for their kids, but a better quality of life in general, and end up with a house that is worth more, which helps their family accumulate wealth. Since they are paying for schools anyway, that makes a lot of sense. People who make that choice shouldn’t be denigrated as not caring about the quality of their kids education.

I expect people to get offended when I mention public education.
I know parents who make less than $20k/year and don’t take welfare, yet they manage to homeschool successfully. They don’t wait for pie in the sky or the fed gov to get out of education.
Public education is welfare, and it’s full of progressive trash. People who wouldn’t hire a government worker to babysit for an hour, and track in a progressive agenda (anti-Christian, pro-gay, pro-choice), will let the very same vermin babysit for six hours a day, 900 hours a year, because they’ve “already paid for it.” They can make all the excuses they can, but it’s welfare and the children are receiving a trashy education.
It’s just a fact beyond dispute. So, they can only sputter and cuss.

The marvelous American education was born with the country and lasted only until the ultra liberals took control and destroyed it.

The education requirements began to go down not long after WW II. I was in High school around 53 or 54 when they began removing higher math courses as a requirement. I remember thinking at the time that maybe there should be some minimum requirements for graduation across all states, then I had to consider who would be deciding on those minimums and thought better of that idea.

Remember Reagan ran on two very big items, abolish 55 mph speed limit and abolish the Department of Education. He only got one, maybe Trump can get the other, but don't hold your breath.

If our current government has education so right, why do Obama and all members of our government send their own kids to private schools?

We should require that all public employees send their own children to public schools.

Communist Core should be ended, the Federal Department of Education disbanded, and the Lyndon Baines Johnson building housing it bulldozed and made into a dungheap.

"Sins of the fathers" should not be on the heads of the children. But I have to admit it's tempting! ;)

You may be right. We apparently are left to raise them because their parents just feed them, clothe them, and hand over their pay checks to them.

People who make that choice shouldn’t be denigrated as not caring about the quality of their kid
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I denigrate the parents who subject their children to the following:

1) These parents are choosing to put their children into the care of Marxist-trained trained teachers from Marxist-run colleges of education. They are also subjecting their children a Marxist driven curriculum and policies.

2) Worse of all is the spiritual damage done to the children. **ALL** government schools in this nation are godless in their worldview. If they are not they are breaking the law. The children in godless classrooms **WILL** learn to think and reason godlessly. They must simply to cooperate in the godless classroom. How could it possibly be otherwise.

3) If their Christian teachers who attempt to sneak in a God-centered worldview into the godless classroom, the children risk learning that Christians are sneaky, break the law, and so wimpy they are afraid to boldly proclaim their faith. So?....As a adults are these children likely to be attracted to a faith whose members are sneaky, wimpy, and law-breaking?

4) Finally, ....when children attend socialist entitlement schools they risk learning to be comfortable with socialism. Gee! If the voting mob can force others to pay for their tuition-free schooling, why not use that same voting mob to get **lots** of “free” stuff.

None of the above is good. Parents who subject their children to the above should be shamed. This is true if the school has good scores, bad scores, or ugly scores.

My great niece is going to a private Catholic girls school next year. Her mother is a public school teacher. Her grandmother is a public school superintendent.

A lot of public school teachers send their kids to private school.
