Billionaire investor Carl Icahn told CNBC on Thursday he has sold his Apple position as the tech giant's stock continues to shed value after disappointing earnings.
"We no longer have a position in Apple," Icahn told CNBC's "Power Lunch," noting Apple is a "great company" and CEO Tim Cook is "doing a great job."

Tim Cook is doing a great job
If it's so great why's he bailing.
One thing to be thankful for, AlGore is staying on the board.
Icahn said China's attitude toward Apple largely drove him to shed his position.
"You worry a little bit - and maybe more than a little - about China's attitude," Icahn said, later adding that China's government could "come in and make it very difficult for Apple to sell there... you can do pretty much what you want there."
He added, though, that if China "was basically steadied," he would buy back into Apple.
**ping**
The COMMUNIST government in China just closed off Apple’s 2nd largest market.
Tim Cook will soon show up in Beijing wearing a stupid little hat and a funny outfit carrying a little “Red Book”.
Maybe we eventually might see Apple made domestically after all....
Tim Cook is doing a great job
Left to explore other opportunities, spend more time with the family, etc.
Maybe Bangladesh
The Chinese probably asked Apple for some “ideas” about their phones. Apple said no and the Chinese started to turn the screws.
Paging the fr “free trade” gurus to tell us how g#> d&[]{> wonderful free trade with China is.
because he is starting his job for dealing with China and off shore manufacturing of us goods NOW... kinda like choosing a VP, but his candidate is really going to be president...

A government panel has recommended exempting Apple from mandatory local sourcing norms, a move which would pave the way for Apple to open single-brand retail stores in the country, The India Times reports. The company had given a detailed presentation to the committee headed by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) Secretary Ramesh Abhishek on April 19, on its products, technology, innovations and camera, India Times reports. The committee has found that the companys products are cutting edge technology and state-of-the-art. It has recommended to exempt them from the local sourcing norms,"
This limitation has been blocking Apple from sales in India for years.
Thanks for the ping. . .
Trump team first shot across the bow.
and the countdown is underway, now.
Apple already does make some products here. The Apple Mac Pro is made in Austin, Texas, and the iMacs are made in Elk Grove, California, as well as in Ireland. Many of the parts of the iPhones and iPads are actually manufactured in the US, shipped to China, and then ultimately assembled there with other parts made all over the world. . . just as all other cellular phone are. Laptops are essentially made in China with processors made in Korea, screens made in Japan, and other chips made in the US.
China will NEVER NEED ANYTHING from the west.
Ever.
They have spent the last 20 years being the slave labor to the west delivering consumer products with a varying of quality and competence.
They don’t give two shits about what anybody thinks of them.
They are a top down communist regime that found a little money and a taste for what that money can bring to their communist goals.
They have used the West, they have played us for suckers.
They don’t care if their people starve to death.
There is nothing that can hurt them, and they know this.
Sadly, our current administration doesn’t.
Carl’s just putting pressure on Apple to give in to China’s data sucking demands.
I do not think Carl Icahn made any money with his apple stock. He sold Netflix then bought apple and the stock went down and stayed downed.
“Thanks for the ping. . .”
No prob. I do not want to get on the bad side of anyone whose handle has the word, “Sword” in it! ;-)
*sigh* I guess that’s a possibility
