Saudi to Have Cinemas Again

Reopening of cinemas is part of social changes

Saudi Arabia is expected to give permission to cinema companies to open houses again after all of them were shut down many years ago because of Islamist and social opposition, a newspaper in the Gulf kingdom reported on Monday.

“Cinema houses will reopen in Saudi Arabia soon…the decision is not in our hands but they will open again because of social changes and the fact that they do not contradict religion,” said Sultan Al Bazi, Chairman of the Saudi culture and arts association.

“The current period in the kingdom is witnessing real changes because the society is changing…I believe that reopening of the cinemas is part of these changes,” he told the Saudi Arabic language daily Sada.

If people had an entertaining outlet, maybe they wouldn’t turn to murder and mayhem so often. Saudis: truly stuck on stupid.

“If people had an entertaining outlet,....”

I disagree.

When they “turn to murder and mayhem”, it’s because of the Koran. Period.

Nothing short of outlawing islam will curb the goat roping, woman abusing, moronic actions of the filth that lives there.

This will be interesting. These changes Saudi Arabia is pushing are real. Saudi Arabia is painted into a corner. They need to diversify their economy away from oil. In order to do that, they need a well educated workforce. Yet most Saudis who go abroad to study don’t go back home. So Saudi Arabia needs to be able to compete for jobs and industry with Dubai, and get at least its own citizens to stay. But all these changes will be heretical to Wahhabis, who will join the side of ISIS to reject those changes.

Showing what?

Films of people getting their heads chopped off, burning Christian churches, or butt ugly Mullahs saying stupid, inane, and repulsive things?

Saudi Arabia opening a television system led to the takeover of the Kaaba mosque and the declaration that the apocalypse was near in 1979. They Sunnis declared this guy to be the Mahdi. I think there is a story of French mercenaries being hired paid a fortune to convert to Islam and leading the assault on the Mosque. The mercenary general later on became an African adventurer - even taking over a few African countries.

This spooked the Saudis and they doubled down on Islamism.

You don’t really think women will be able to watch.

It all depends on what’s playing at the cinema. Opening a cinema while banning western movies is, well, all for show.

Didn’t Yasser Arafat get his start firebombing crowded theaters?

I agree that it’s most likely propaganda....like how to slice someone’s head off properly. These are sick sobs.

Wondering how many sharia-compliant films there are in the world.

And then, what’s the production quality of those three films?

Nope, even if I were muslim, and that’s the nut of it. Their wahhabism is causing a demographic collapse. But if they reject wahhabism, in order to bring people back, they will be seen as heretics by wahhabists and be overthrown.

My daughter was assigned to tutor some Saudi exchange students while she was in college. She was not impressed.

These guys were totally out of control. The ultimate fratboy life of drugs, drinking and sex, and more money to do all of them than you could scarcely imagine. That and they were intellectually and emotionally arrested at around age 13. She could not imagine any of them leading a useful or productive life.
