Holy cow Jim,

He’s even MORE conservative than I thought he was! I always thought that he believed that our great country was in dire need of help but trusted others he thought would do it, and found out they were all talk no action.

Thank You for posting this article. It truly revives my faith in this great country.

Well, if he’s opening it up for insurance companies to compete for business over state lines, that’s not government. It’s private.

It is getting government the hell out of the way. I'm all for it. So is Cruz. So was Santorum and Romney in 2012.

He’s hoping everyone gets covered by private insurance, but on the other hand, he appears to be wanting government to cover the indigent.

This is where it begins to fall apart. Trump says that people without insurance will have their medical expenses covered by the government. However, that creates a huge incentive to not have insurance. So when Trump says , I am hearing him say 'Insurance mandate'.

It would be really nice if Trump would come out and clarify his position. But each time someone tries to get him to elaborate, he changes the subject.

The only other thing I have to go on is his statements in support of single payer. While it is true that he has said it won't work in the US, it should also be noted that it doesn't work anywhere else either, contrary to Trump's claims. It is a fundamental philosophical error that cannot be overlooked.

Donald Trump is not Ronald Reagan. Not even in the same league. Not by a million miles.

You seem concerned with how long people on the thread have been Republican. I have been my whole life so I guess I’ve got the kind of pedigree you’re looking for. Got to tell you I’m pulling for Trump the same way I pulled for Reagan when I voted for him.

*Ugh* & *Sigh*
Right now it’s Cruz trying to undermine Trump and he just might succeed. Then again, he might NOT!

I have some pings from you to answer!

That's fine. Vote for him. But don't try to convince me that he is in the same league with Ronald Reagan. He's not. Nobody running in this election or any current election will ever get there.

TBP - care to provide the Pakistani/Khalistan perspective on this thread? Psst - don’t think you want to repeat your nauseous posts on FReeper “Trumpanzees” and your mania re: all things Trump

Some of us older conservatives grew up in catholic families and raised democrat. I learned to love my country and value conservative principles through the school of hard knocks and personal experience, not party loyalty. But even today I would vote for a Democrat if I though he would be better for our country because I put the country I served for 22 years FIRST. I am not a robot blindly following a party. The dem/rep parties can f**k themselves, I vote for the person I believe is better to serve America.

Great point, Jim, but I believe Cruz is top sleazy to want what is best for the country - just what is best for himself. He is a bad man.

FWIW both those who are supporting Cruz and those who are supporting Trump believe the same thing. But the vitriol in this campaign is unmatched in any campaign I have witnessed.

I know who started it. I'm not voting for him.

Right now it’s Cruz trying to undermine Trump and he just might succeed. Then again, he might NOT!

King Cruz iz NOT going to be President, not now, not ever, and that is because he will never be the nominee, not now, and not ever.

Cruz is a rank amateur when it comes to presidential campaign politics, and the only reason he's been having some marginal successes in stealing delegates is because if you go back to the point when all of a sudden the Bush Crime Syndicate and the rest of the GOPe-RINO gang joined up to say 'Cruz is our boy!', THAT is when the dirty dealing started in earnest. They are using Cruz, he is the political equivalent of a blow up doll and as soon as he's served his purpose to block Trump, they'll discard him. But for right now, Ted thinks he's flying the plane:

“Everybody’s got to be covered”

Trump said we have to take care of people. I remember the first time he said this in an early debate. It didn’t bother that much. For one thing, we already and have always paid for the uninsured sick one way or another. Being from the largest city in the country, he is well aware that any kind of strict application of “no insurance, no care” would lead to dead bodies in the street. If you can live with that, then I don’t know what to say.

He made it clear that it was not a popular “Republican thing to say”, but was willing to take the heat for it. What politician would be willing to step out on a ledge like that (No -Ted Cruz on Ethanol in one state doesn’t come close).

With this statement and others, you will find that Trump doesn’t have to pivot much. He has prepared the general election battlefield very well I think. The same cannot be said for a Ted Cruz; some of his positions you best love about him may very well go through a twisted remake, or worse, down the memory hole.

Trump never attacks someone unless they attack first, so good for you, you’re voting for TRUMP.

Reagan never "attacked" anyone. Neither did GWB. They were gentleman in the tradition of George Washington.

Unfortunately there is a dearth of Gentlemen these days. There is an overabundance of crude language and crude politicians. I suppose we could blame the culture, but I have always held Republicans and Conservatives to a higher standard.

Was thinking the same thing Jersey. If I remember right it started when Cruz had a private meeting and said he didn’t trust Trump’s judgement. It got leaked, and Trump responded.
