Actually, hes not. That would be helpful. Instead, hes calling for a gun ban.
In a USA Today Sports article, Payton let fly:

Had me for a second with the #blm hook. Then I remembered it isn't their fault that "we've" purposely provided guns so they can kill each other. The plot thickens. Uh, hey coach, stick to foot ball. You obviously don't know anything about how guns can be obtained despite ANY laws on the books.

Big fan of the Saints, Brees, and Payton.
Coach is lashing out in grief. Sometimes we say things purely out of emotion.

Hey Sean!
If you hate guns, don’t own one.
Leave me and my rights alone.

How about mandatory minimums for felons with guns? No that would lock up too many Africans
To: catfish1957
Possible. One has to remember to engage brain before shifting mouth in to first gear though. Geaux Saints!

Now you know that liberals are not content to let people live their own lives as they see fit when the liberals can run everyone else’s lives so much better.

I love the Saints and Sean Peyton.... I also love my guns. I’ve never had to use my gun for self defense but I’m glad I have the right to do so.

Hey “coach”—would you have felt better had the guy been killed with a bat?

Sometimes we say things purely out of emotion. Sometimes we say the truth about the way we really feel. The filter is removed.

Coach is lashing out in grief Might be wiser to lash out at the worthless ape who killed Mr. Smith.

Flashback: Super Bowl. Sam Wyche blamed President Bush and his drug laws for the O.D. of Stanley Wilson, fullback who was needed to block Charles Haley, pass rusher. They lost and to think that Wyche is a Republican.

I must agree. The world was a more safe place before guns were invented. (snark)

I do believe coach’s real point is that N.O. is broken. Yahoo decided to overemphasize the guns point.

Coach is lashing out in grief. Sometimes we say things purely out of emotion. Grief, like alcohol, is truth serum. He's simply revealing what has always been in his mind.

I had already trailed off my watching of the Saints. As far as I am concerned, Payton just rode off into the sunset with his entire team. The NFL is beginning to be tedious.
