APPALLING: Missouri Grants ‘Jihad’ and ‘Hamas’ License Plates
Freedom Outpost ^ | 4/10/2016 | Bethany Blankley

Posted on 04/11/2016 5:32:20 AM PDT by HomerBohn

According to St. Louis, Mo., news station KMOV News 4, the State of Missouri’s Department of Motor Vehicles has permitted personalized terrorism license plates, that read “JIHAD1” and “HAMAS.”

In response to emails it received from viewers, News 4 investigated a Missouri license plate reading ‘JIHAD 1’.

According to News4:

“… examined the policies for granting or denying personalized license plates [and] made several requests for an on-camera interview with a representative of the Missouri Department of Motor Vehicles on the State’s reasons for allowing the JIHAD plate, but no one was made available to talk.”

The Muslim couple who owns the license plate, told KMOV-4 that they named the plate after their 14-year-old-son. They also told the news crew off-camera that “‘jihad’ has nothing to do with terrorism and has another spiritual meaning in Islam.”

Of course, the St. Louis Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) weighed in on the matter. The Department of Justice named CAIR as an un-indicted co-conspirator in the terror-financing case of the Holy Land Foundation, and the United Arab Emirates has labeled it a terrorist organization. Indeed, CAIR has been linked to the terrorist movement, the Muslim Brotherhood.

“Jihad is very common, and it doesn’t mean Holy War,” the Chapter’s executive director Faizan Syed said. “It means someone who is struggling. So when you name your kid Jihad, it means someone who is going to struggle to be better.”

Several weeks later, KMOV-4 discovered another license plate was issued, this time, reading, “HAMAS,” which is the name of a Palestinian terrorist organization according to the U.S. State Department, and its primary funder is Iran.

The Missouri Department of Motor Vehicles again refused to comment as to why it allowed both of these license plates to be issued but has rejected thousands of others. The State has also not explained why it rejected the plate, “J1HAD,” in 2009, but why “JIHAD1” was now allowed.

The State referred News4 to a 2001 court case in which the court ruled that the state cannot censor license plates. In that case, a license plate, ‘ARAYAN,’ was permitted under the right to free speech protected by the First Amendment.

However, the First Amendment does not protect hate speech or incitement to violence, which could include names referring to movements that advocate both. Hamas and Jihad are both directly related to terrorism specifically related to the political ideology of Islam. And, a non-elected bureaucratic agency, and the courts, do not have the final word on this: “We the People” do.

I don't believe this car owner needs to worry about the warranty on his new car. Warranties don't cover suicides.

Our wimpish governments will bend over backwards to accommodate the growth of a Muslim society. It will only bring sorrow and eventually war to our cities. Anyone who doesn't understand the danger in this will soon see us loosing to the Muslim invasion.

Yeah, right. And swastikas had nothing to do with Nazism.

Yeah, apply for a plate inscribed with “Hitler” or “Siegheil” and see how far you get.

This is plain old “in your face” from the Muzloids.

You could always tell them that you are a Buddhist. (grin)

How is this not a violation of the separation of church and state? Can a Jesus license plate be issued?

Actually, I am all in favor of this. Imagine you are a cop and you pull over an otherwise undistinguished looking car for a minor traffic violation. How are you going to approach this vehicle if they have a Jihad-1 or Hamas license plate?

And you can bet that their dash cam and GoPro are going to be on. You might even request another officer on scene.

Of course, if those dipsticks try anything...

I think we unwashed, uncultured, low class citizens need to deal directly with certain situations. For instance one of us needs to steal the license plate.

I think it actually is a good thing if our enemy self identifies themselves. If and when the SHTF, then real Americans will have an easier time identifying the other side.

Just Saying....

Here is what I found on the Missouri DMV website regarding personalized plates...

Once you have reserved your personalized configuration, our Department staff will review it to determine if the configuration is appropriate under the guidelines established by Missouri law. Specifically, "No personalized license plates shall be issued containing any letters, numbers or combination of letters and numbers which are obscene, profane, patently offensive or contemptuous of a racial or ethnic group, or offensive to good taste or decency, or would present an unreasonable danger to the health or safety of the applicant, of other users of streets and highways, or of the public in any location where the vehicle with such a plate may be found." (Section 301.144, RSMo).

Stupidity? no. It was deliberate. We can only hope that the public reaction will get the DMV to back down and cancel the plates. Otherwise, I want “CRUSADE1”.
