DESPITE LATEST MEDIA SMEAR=> Trump’s Favorable Rating Rivals Reagan’s in 1980

A new Associated Press poll released today found after months of media and GOP establishment attacks a majority of Americans overwhelmingly view Trump negatively.

Seven in 10 people, including close to half of Republican voters, have an unfavorable view of Donald Trump.

Six in 10 people have an unfavorable view of Ted Cruz even though the liberal media has not started its campaign of destruction against the Texas senator.

Grandma Hillary has a 55% unfavorable rating.

Trump is wildly popular with Middle Class voters but that doesn’t impress the Beltway elites.

Ronald Reagan’s favorable rating was also at 30% back in March 1980. The GOP elites at the time also worried he could never win.

Favorable/Unfavorable irrelevant. At this pt in 1980, Reagan had LOWEST favorable- only 30% https://t.co/lks5SkvDOC https://t.co/ixnajVgaQh

The elites also worried about Ronald Reagan’s chances back in March 1980. The CSMonitor reported, via Free Republic:

The nation’s Republicans are working against the clock to answer two key questions: Can conservative Ronald Reagan possibly attract enough independent and Democratic votes to win in November?

An if he is likely to lose, has former President Gerald Ford time enough to challenge him for the GOP nomination?

The consensus among political experts is that time has probably already run out for Gerald Ford, though he still appears the stronger choice to beat Jimmy Carter in November.

But some experts caution: Don’t count Ronald Reagan out as a national candidate for the fall. He is not, they say, “a McGovern or a Goldwater” — fringe candidates who led their parties to one-sided defeats in 1972 and 1964. Intellectuals don’t want to take him seriously, but he does well with working-class voters. He would take the West, challenge President Carter in the South, and do well in the pivotal Midwest states like Ohio and Illinois, whose southern regions titled toward Carter in 1976, they say..........................Let's hear it from Cruz backers.

The only chance reason has to prevail in this country is if the public shuts off the evening news, and there’s some evidence it’s happening.

Remember how Reagan was characterized? He was a B movie actor who starred in a very forgettable film called Bedtime for Bonzo in which his co-star was a chimp! And he was not very bright—remember. He had a C average in college. Miraculously he won.

Very simple - Trump is nowhere near the statesman Reagan was and he certainly has very little grasp on any major issue whereas Reagan was completely versed on the geopolitical and economic scenes.

To compare him to Trump and to compare 1980 to 2016 is pure folly. Trump is an amateur compared to Reagan.

5th ave. is jammed packed these days.

Since we’re on the subject of comparisons to Reagan, I wonder if the Trump folks will approve if the upcoming convention mirrors the Reagan approach to the 1976 convention.

Reagan had knowledge of history and the Constitution, was kind, decent, experienced, and likable. Trump seems clueless outside of his bubble, is not decent, and is the kind of person who objectifies his baby daughter. Can’t compare the two.

"has very little grasp on any major issue

Trump understands borders, language, culture.
Trump understands threats.
Trump understands the hollowing out of America at the hands of Democrats and Republicans.

I consider those major issues. Without borders and without opportunity and economic strength, we are less safe.

Will he get it all right? Of course not. None do.

Donnie ain’t no Ronnie.

Stop trying to push this narrative.

Reagan united all of the party conservatives and didn’t trash the most conservative supreme court justice of the day or the most conservative member of the senate.

Pure pablum broski.

If he understood borders then why has his plan to have the Mexican gov’t pay for the wall been dumbed down to confiscating transfer payments?

Why say something as stupid as paying down the debt in eight years when the whole economy doesn't generate enough revenue to do that not to mention he wants to increase military spending, not even touch SS or medicare and expand Medicare Part D?

What if the S. Koreans decide they can't pony up the Won to protect the DMZ? What is Trump going to do next? Threaten to pull all the troops out? Guess who would pile into that zone the second he said something like that?

Trump gave money to the same people that are responsible for hollowing us out as you say.......and to some that we all here detest.

Your boy knows his wallet....and good for him, making money rules.

But when you can get confused on a simple gotcha question on abortion then it's clear you're a second stringer.

Good luck going forward.

I can only give my opinion, since I don't live in his head. They will pay for it by transferring money, or giving up aid, or be hurt when their economy doesn't receive all the transfer payments.

I don't care which it is. It will come out of their hide under any of those options.

Frankly, if we would get the wall built with our own money, I'd be happy with that.

Why say something as stupid as paying down the debt in eight years when the whole economy doesn't generate enough revenue to do that not to mention he wants to increase military spending, not even touch SS or medicare and expand Medicare Part D?

You aren't paying attention to the plan he released.

What if the S. Koreans decide they can't pony up the Won to protect the DMZ? What is Trump going to do next? Threaten to pull all the troops out? Guess who would pile into that zone the second he said something like that?

You may not understand negotiation.

Trump gave money to the same people that are responsible for hollowing us out as you say.......and to some that we all here detest.

I understand why. He gave to both sides. Both failed us over the past 100 years.

Your boy knows his wallet....and good for him, making money rules.

Great skill to use in DC.

But when you can get confused on a simple gotcha question on abortion then it's clear you're a second stringer.

I like that he isn't doctrinaire about issues. He is certainly no "checkbox conservative". Reagan was not either. Good luck going forward

You too! We happen to be traveling in the same ship.

Donald Trump is nothing at all like Ronald Reagan, but he is definitely the most Donald-Trump-like candidate in US history!

The only comparison that's true is that polls this far away from an election might not be accurate, and might depend on external events. I wouldn't bet real money -- any that might be left after paying my taxes to Obama -- that either Clinton or Trump will be their party's candidates, or who will win in November.

"A comprehensive survey of more than 75,000 voters in all 50 states, conducted over several months by Morning Consult, shows 34 of the nation’s governors have approval ratings of 50 percent or higher, and 16 governors have approval ratings over 60 percent. Governors in only ten states have higher disapproval ratings than approval ratings, the survey found."

You can throw darts at a US map and find good Republican presidential candidates.

Please dispense with the Reagan comparisons. Reagan was a champion for the Conservative cause.....Trump has done absolutely zero for that cause.

Hurt the Mexican economy huh? Then if you target that you target Ford and Carrier as examples. It's not a zero sum game, you can't look to kill a trading partner that actually has US companies inside it's borders and think they will be fine, it'll just be the locals that suffer. Think two steps ahead.

Why do I need to look at any plan? I just told you the gov’t does not generate enough post-obligation revenue to dispense will all the US debt. You know and I know any GDP growth assumption made is always wrong, Trump's is as well.

Negotiations? With the North Koreans? What planet are you on dude? They have the upper hand - they have nukes, a larger army than the South Koreans and the backing of both Russia and China. Come one man.

I love it when Trump supporters come up with a rationalization as to why he would give to Schumer, Pelosi and the DNC. Like all Conservatives do that every year. If you forgive him for that, then you forgive Soros and Buffett.

So buying off politicians is a great skill. Yet we all here rail against people being paid off at the expense of the populace. Your boy has been doing it for decades and now that's a presidential skill.

“I like that he isn't doctrinaire about issues. He is certainly no “checkbox conservative.” - Good for you, it's refreshing to hear a Trump supporter say he's not Conservative and ergo, you are not Conservative. I applaud you here.

I'll vote for Trump if he gets the nod for sure - but until I'm forced to I'll back the Conservative.

Peace friend.

Trump is successful because he knows how to surround himself with competent people and accept their counsel.

Any questions?
