Donald Trump sets his campaign on fire: A self-destructive madman has decided he wants to lose
Salon ^

Posted on 04/06/2016 6:33:18 AM PDT by springwater13

Even Trump’s most trusted advisors didn’t expect him to fare this well ” the goal was to get The Donald to poll in double digits and come in second in delegate count. That was it. The Trump camp would have been satisfied to see him polling at 12% and taking second place to a candidate who might hold 50%. His candidacy was a protest candidacy.

I don’t think even Trump thought he would get this far. And I don’t even know that he wanted to, which is perhaps the scariest prospect of all. He certainly was never prepared or equipped to go all the way to the White House, but his ego has now taken over the driver’s seat, and nothing else matters. The Donald does not fail. The Donald does not have any weakness. The Donald is his own biggest enemy.

What was once Trump’s desire to rank second place to send a message to America and to increase his power as a businessman has nightmarishly morphed into a charade that is poised to do irreparable damage to this country if we do not stop this campaign in its tracks ” He doesn’t want the White House. He just wants to be able to say that he could have run the White House. He’s achieved that already and then some. . . . The hard truth is: Trump only cares about Trump.

“Ventura was all about running his mouth, chest-puffing and posturing.”

That also describes Cruz, Kasich (even more so) and every other candidate that has ever run for office in world history.

..."conservatives"...

Bedwetting retards who support Paul Ryan, 2 trillion dollar budgets, TPP, full tree monkey hunting rapefugee invasion, total capitulation to Iran, unpunished murder of our people in Libya etc. I want me some Republican ISIS member to be President for sure.

“Oh hell this is Salon, now a respected media outlet on FR by sCruzifers.”

And the threads based on nothing more than ‘Tweets” are?

Salon is pretty bad, but not as bad as ‘Tweets”!

Oh hell this is Salon, now a respected media outlet on FR by sCruzifers.

Interesting comment, on the heels of that smear job of Cruz by the Trump-endorsing National Enquirer.

I favor Trump but he needs to smooth out his rhetoric, be better prepared, and put away his conceit.

RE:”The hard truth is: Trump only cares about Trump.”

His sore lose bitching and whining and insults after his WI loss was the lowest we have seen in our lifetimes for that type of race.

Hopefully Americans were watching.

Blaming ‘Conservative talk radio’ ???

Sounds like something Grahamnesty would do.

There are more delegates out there than are being properly reported.

And more are coming home to Cruz...every day.

Jedi.

I’m a Cruz supporter, but I figured once Trump blew off the Macy’s, Miss Universe, Apprentice and other deals, he was all in.

He would do well to do his homework or hire people to do it for him (that’s not a slam). Attacking Walker in Wisconsin and the fight for Act 10 was not the best move to make in a Republican primary.

Who would have considered the fact that Cruz, vilified by the GOPe for the past four years, would lead them in saving the GOPe from the rank and file. His ego is more important than his past message.

I've always thought that the "plan" was for Trump to storm thru the primaires, destroying decent candidates like Rubio, only to make himself an impossible candidate to vote for in the main election....

he's doing this for his democrat handlers....

we've been had, again....

fwiw, I'll vote for him in the general election if he gets that far....I'm not like some dopey voters that just couldn't vote for a moderate pub who's Mormon, and instead, elect a homo muzzie lover, just for spite....

The goal is to deny Trump the magic number on the first ballot. (There are ways.)

There are ways....sad, isn't it? That not only does Trump have to fight the Dem machine, but he has to fight the freaking GOPee machine, just as hard.

Tells me who to fight for....the guy who's fighting these two monsters....not the guy who's supported BY THEM.

It is the establishment including talk show radio. No one, NO ONE or those that care about the country can get in the way of the establishment or they will be destroyed. The establishment is making its point with the destruction of Trump.

In 2010-2012 they worked to co-opt and vilify the .tea party working in tandem with the Democratic Party establishment. Trump was strong enough to take them on but Cruz sold out showing he is part of the establishment.

Most of those who support Cruz are part of the establishment destroying the hope of returning the government to one interested in the welfare of the people and future generations.

Sore loser?

He’s spent HIS OWN MONEY, and taken time from his own business, to do this.

What has cRuz done? Nothing, but take dirty PAC $$ and time away from his cushy, government/DC cesspool job.

cRuz should drop out. He has no chance against Hellary and the DC hacks. He has no business/economic experience and has never covered a payroll or created a job...but keep putting your trust in that one.

The goal is to deny Trump the magic number on the first ballot.

All that is needed is for Cruz and Kasich to get about 225-250 more bound delegates. Cruz should get about 150 from IN, NE, SD and MT. They should easily get the rest from the proportional states.

No, this primary ‘victory’ speech from Cruz is the lowest we have ever seen in our lifetimes.

Nothing Trump said comes even close to that.

Ted Cruz is lower than the lowest layer of prehistoric pond scum at the bottom of the Potomac.
