Newsbusters ^ | March 30, 2016 | Tim Graham

David Brooks, the fake conservative half of public broadcasting on Friday – the one day they pretend to let conservatives on the taxpayer-funded airwaves – forecast on Friday's All Things Considered on NPR that Donald Trump has done one positive thing – destroyed the “dying husk” of obsolete Reaganism in the Republican Party. Naturally, his liberal radio counterpart E.J. Dionne agreed, hoping for a more liberal, domesticated GOP.

Except when you go down Trump’s platform, issue by issue, many of them are Reagan’s platform.

Other than that, this guy is right on.

Another words, he’s full of horse stuff.

He always reminded me of “Dean” Eulich from “Revenge of the Nerds”.

He didn’t crush it.

The same mentality and emotion that got Obama erected is driving his numbers.

Most conservatives chucked their ethos for “Winning!”

Don’t flame me guys.

I get it and have quarrel with y’all.

ah, don’t sweat ######s like this.

we know he’s wrong.

my fear is there’s just not as many Reagan republicans as there used to be. I could be completely wrong. I didn’t look at polls or anything.

Trump is not a conservative, therefore, his nomination will be the delight of the left and should thrill the GOPe who have been trying to bury Reaganism for 20 years.

If the “husk” of “obsolete Reaganism” dies, this country is finished. The “husk of obsolete Reaganism” is all that’s holding this country together right now.

Agreed. Other than he is off of this “free trade” thing his positions are not that different from Reagan’s.

Yeah, that's probably one of the only times I've dropped one of those, but that was my immediate reaction.

You know, for those of us that were there for the Carter "malaise" and the "Reagan Revolution", it's hard not to get defensive and be a little over-sensitive to comments like these, no matter the source.

No the Bush Family, and its minionsm drained all the Reaganism out of the GOP over the last 30 years.

Republicans use to stand form small government, low taxes, limited regulation, free enterprise and traditional social values. Thy were suspicious of an interventionist foreign policy and favored a strong national defense designed to protect US National Security interests. They were proudly “American 1sters” who were suspicious of any internationalist tendencies in foreign, or trade, policy. They had a firm believe in the rule of law.
