Trump on Wife Battle: Cruz Started It, He Knew About The Picture
Breitbart ^ | 2016-03-27 | Pam Key

...TRUMP: Totally. I had nothing to do with— the campaign had nothing to do with it. He’s got a problem with The National Enquirer. I have no control over The National Enquirer. I had no idea about the story. I just got it last night. I had nothing to do whatsoever with The National Enquirer, neither did the campaign. For him to say I had to do with it, try and put the shoe on the other foot is disgraceful. And by the way, He’s the one that started it. From what I hear, he and his campaign went out and bought the cover shoot. Melania did a cover shoot for GQ a very strong modeling picture. No big deal. But it was a cover shoot for GQ a big magazine. And it was, you know, fine and, if from what I hear, he was the one, or his campaign bought the rights and give it to the super PAC. That super PAC is friendly to Ted Cruz. He started it. I didn’t.

In fairness, proving a negative is nearly impossible. However, the Cruz campaign response hasn’t been very convincing.

This one time, I think Trump should move on and focus on real issues.

You and others of his supporters need to wake up to the fact that despite his latter day "conversions" telegraphed by manipulate-able media for consumption by the gullible, this is the kind of stuff that has been in his wheelhouse for years, and he is pathologically incapable of merely "moving on" from such things, as well advised as this might be, I agree.

Cruz really should ditch the Bushies.

Cruz is playing right into the Bushies hand - Mutually Assured Destruction between Trump and Cruz and the GOPe, turns to the one guy NO ONE wanted in the primaries - senor el Jebbo.

Hum. So now it is not “he did it” but “he knew a out it”. A walk back. An admission he overstepped. Acknowledging he misrepresented.

Nah, I’m waiting for that lovely awkward moment at the RNC where Tedster has to greet Trump’s (current) missus. Ted Cruz is a butt plug in the annals of American history. Texas needs to throw him out and evict Beck. Love the Hill Country, spend a week there every year, but Texas has to do something to restore my faith- which they earned with all the “got socialism?” bumper stickers I saw driving north from San Antonio in 2009. The O in socialism was an Obama campaign stylized “O”. Can’t believe Tedster is a Texas senator.

However, if we assume the photographer and GC were not paid for the ‘rights’ to USE the photo in a political AD, then Cruz’s PAC illegally used the photo and should be sued by GQ.

Methinks with a public figure this is going nowhere as far as a lawsuit.

No...what I posted was Trumps statement this morning on ABC which does have bearing over any twitter posting.

I am also waiting from a response from Antoine Verglas, the photographer.

And you are now officially a maroon because you couldn’t bother to read the article or Trump’s statement on the matter. It was not a twitter post. That is why you are officially today’s Maroon!

“I know for 1000% certainty that no one from the Cruz campaign obtained the rights for the picture/shoot from Wright Media. 1000% certainty! This is just Trump lying, when he could damn well verify that himself.”

How do you know that? If Trump could verify it, can you? Why should he? He said he was only saying what he heard, like Cruz the day after the Utah primary.
But isn’t someone on Cruz’s team, somewhere in the chain-of-custody, on the horns of a dilemma here?
They either played a dirty trick or they may have broken a law.
If it was Cruz, through `Make America Awesome Again’ through Carly’s PAC—and, as you say no one obtained the rights—didn’t someone violate copyright law or some photog’s contractual rights?

These are political dirty tricks, both the photo and the rumors of Cruz’s affairs. If substantiated, our favorite Inspector Javert: Ted Cruz, his extracurricular activities certainly may be more serious than Trump talking with his pal Mr. Pecker of the NE, Trump: “Yeah, the nerve of that SOB! My wife! .... Uh, what? He did what?! And I heard that ... “ And then he hung up the phone. `Hate speech’?

But the real political significance is that while Americans may be titillated by such things many social conservatives are offended by the prurient nature of such things, while the rest of us of a more temporal nature are thinking, `How appropriate is all of us to serious matters, like whether my daughter is going to be able to get a full-time job? How long will the ghoulish paractices continue in Planned Parenthood? Are those crazy Iranians going to blow us all up? Are we going to have financial meltdown, unable to re-finance our US Treasury credit card for the umpteenth time. And so forth and so on. You know, the issues.

So now the pol trolls are trying to trip one another up with “Who shot John?”= who lied about pulling dirty tricks? trying to influence those of us who are sincerely appalled over this stuff while the rest of us shake our heads over the farcical Cage aux Folle goings on.
One last thing to keep in mind, as you Cruz supporters have reminded us every day. Trump has never held himself out as a saint. So what has Trump done, besides object to his wife of five years, mother of his child, being portrayed in a sixteen year old GQ cover shoot on Facebook on the eve of a primary?

Oh yeah? Prove it. He said he had nothing to do with the National Enquirer running this story. That’s journalism, not politics.

No...but the photographer has the right to sue if it violated any agreements he had with GQ, et al.

You grab someone else’s copyrighted photo and use it without permission in a political ad. Let me know how that turns out for you.

Did you contact the lady who originally made the claim to have proof from GQ, that it was Cruz’s campaign who ordered the photo?

She claimed to have the proof, and to have posted it three times, with Twitter deleting the posts each time b/c someone was complaining.

She claimed to be posting the proof again-what I saw, didn’t seem to confirm it. I may not have understood what she provided.

Well, late night TV comics would be happy anyway, and if Hillary ends up locked up she could probably still win against Jeb! campaigning from behind bars and sending Bill out as her surrogate.

How did we get to this place?

Trump has done very well by being scarce the last few days. The focus has been on Cruz.

I assume he will be as astute moving forward.

“If this guy cared so much about Melania’s privacy he never would have sold the pix to GQ. I mean, what did he expect a men’s magazine to do with them anyway?”

I have seen the original GQ cover. It was a “feature story” of supermodels nude. It would seem that GQ hired him to do the shoot. Kate Bush was one of the other models.. There were 4 or 5 models.

GQ republished the whole photo shoot online this month. I have the link to it but hesitate to post it.

Waiting for the PROOF.

We have lots of innuendo, hearsay, gossip, slander, rumor, and just made up nonsense being passed along as news these days.

Cruz claims he and his people did not provide the picture. He denied knowing of anyone on his team communicating with Make America Awesome. He denounced the ad.

Even if this was done by his campaign manager without Cruz’s knowledge or approval, an apology will not be enough. In his own words, accountability starts at the top.

On the other hand, Trump is hearing things. That’s not good enough. Produce evidence. I want to base my support on the facts.

I have been for Cruz and Trump since the beginning. Very disappointed in how this primary is playing out. Glad that the two most anti-GOPe are the leading two candidates. Sad that the two can’t get along and be civil.

I think Jeff Roe is the issue. He's a sleazeball trailing slime.

That, however, goes directly to Cruz's judgment (or lack thereof.) I don't want him in charge of the government...I don't care how "conservative" he is.
