Donald Trump insisted Friday he had nothing to do with the recent National Enquirer story in which Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is accused of cheating on his wife multiple times.

Still, Trump took the moment to point out the tabloid publication has been right in the past with similar stories.

“I have no idea whether or not the cover story about Ted Cruz in this week’s issue of the National Enquirer is true or not, but I had absolutely nothing to do with it, did not know about it, and have not, as yet, read it,” Trump said in a statement. “Ted Cruz’s problem with the National Enquirer is his and his alone, and while they were right about O.J. Simpson, John Edwards, and many others, I certainly hope they are not right about Lyin’ Ted Cruz.”

The National Enquirer’s parent company, AMI, also released a statement…

Lyin, serial adulterer Ted tried to set Trump up. It won't work though. God is not mocked. Lyin Ted will reap what he himself sowed. He laid down with all of those women as a married man and elected official. He was portrayed to be the "face of God" and the one with the highest morals and values of this election. Wow. How are those Calgary values working out for you Cruz? As Lyin Ted once said about Trump, I hope you asked God to forgive you for your multiple adulterous affairs, lying, cheating, and God knows what else. Lyin Ted needs prayer badly.

Hey genius, here’s the difference: Trump admitted to all that he has done, unlike Ted, who will deny, deny, deny and then try to blame Trump. Besides, Ted has put himself out there as the face of God and used his Christianity and family values as part of his platform. Get the difference? Probably not - sometimes there is no dealing with ignroance.

On twitter today, they say that the Cruz campaign actually bought the rights to Melania’s picture. I didn’t realize that when I saw the article about Jeff Roe ordering the ad, but it makes sense. How else could they use Melania’s picture in that ad.
