I can dig it. This is an excellent way to score 100 plus nominating delegates and get right on Hot Gasbag’s delegate lead; shrink it immensely. I’d have suggested those two make up ASAP in a strategic alliance and get their funk together. After the way Trump savaged Rubio you can bet he will release to Cruz.

According to my calculations, 104 of Rubio’s 164 delegates would be free to vote for anyone they want on the first ballot after Rubio officially withdraws. The other 60 are bound to vote for Rubio. If Rubio endorses Cruz, almost all of these would go to Cruz. But this is still not enough for Cruz to overtake Trump on the first ballot.

Another 51 of Rubio’s delegates would be freed to vote for anyone they want on the second ballot.

Furthermore, the 50 delegates from South Carolina are bound to vote for the second or third place person if there is a second ballot. A +50 for Cruz and -50 for Trump.

This might be enough for Cruz to overtake Trump.

IOW - If Trump doesn’t win on the first ballot, Cruz stands the best chance of winning the second ballot.

I'm hoping that some really smart Freeper can educate us all about the actual makeup of the Delegates to the GOP National Convention.

We need to know either State by State or at least on the average how they are bound and what their allegiances really are. Knowing how they are actually chosen would be a start.

19 reassigned by state party leadership (NV,KY,AK) Alaska’s completed.

29 Rubio controls ‘when’ but not to whom they are directed (AR,TX,OK&KS)

76 Locked in through the 1st vote and some through the 2nd ballot (GA,TN,VA,PR,HI, & NC)

However, I already notice this error:

Georgia Code § 21-2-197: “Any delegate to a national convention whose presidential candidate withdraws ... shall be an unpledged delegate ..

But did Rubio technically suspend or withdraw? words matter.
