IMHO, unlocking the phones is probably a bigger security threat to the vast majority of Americans than leaving them alone.

An order to write a program that doesn’t exist. Kind of like a court ordering someone to build a fusion reactor.

What is on the killer’s phone that is not available from provider’s phone records (numbers, time duration), GPS tracking records (location over time), emails (archiving) from internet providers???? NSA is supposed track terrorists!?!
All that can be acquired without having the physical phone.

It all looks like another version of going after the gun ban after random killing.

What is left of citizen’s privacy ???
You already pay for your phone that gives the almighty government free access to your private activity.
Yeah, freedom for terrorists, spying on citizens!

A future mohammed atta has an iPhone that is encrypted.
It is recovered at the new WTC after another horrendous attack.

Tim Cook and his employees refuse to help decrypt it.
Is it the number of people killed and wounded that matters to them?
A reporter should ask him what number of dead should move you to help stop terrorists?
