Trump Trounces Clinton Among Independents

GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump enjoys a commanding 47 to 31 percent lead over expected Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton among independent voters, according to an exclusive Newsmax/Fabrizio, Lee & Associates survey that the organizations released Wednesday afternoon.

While the online survey of 1,500 registered voters shows the former secretary of state essentially tied with the GOP front-runner, 45 to 44 percent, the poll's most eye-popping result is Clinton's pronounced weakness among independent voters, where she trails Trump by 16 points.

The results fly in the face of most pundits' predictions that Trump's strong personality and tough policies would alienate the temperate "swing" voters, who often decide the outcome of national elections.

Trump continues to have high negatives after a bruising primary season, but Hillary appears to be in even worse shape.

"They don't necessarily like him. But they dislike her more," said Tony Fabrizio, a veteran of four presidential campaigns and co-founder and partner of the polling firm Fabrizio, Lee & Associates.

"Voters are very open to Trump's brash style. By a 51 percent to 22 percent margin, voters say they prefer a candidate who speaks candidly even if the views expressed are often controversial, rather than a candidate who sanitizes remarks to make them more palatable."

NO WAY Cruz would get this many independent voters, which is why I don’t buy the “only Cruz can beat Hillary” myth.

I have zero doubt Trump will win independents by a large margin, I also believe he will easily take approximately 20% of the democratic vote, primarily among white blue color democrats who have watch their lives and communities destroyed by “free trade”.. yet we are supposed to believe Trump will lose not only to Hillary but will be trounced by an even greater number by Bernie??

Sorry, but anyone who thinks you can put Hillary behind a podium and Trump behind a podium for 2-3 hours with no filters and that Trump is going to wind up losing that contest, you haven’t been paying attention.

Are you sure about that?

Take a look at Mr. Trump’s rallies. Large turnout.

Cruz will have a tougher time among independents and won’t remotely get much of a crossover vote.. Cruz has major general election issues and has since day one.

If cruz can only win 3 primary election states as he has and one being his own with less than 50% then how the hell can he beat Clinton?

You need non party voters in the general and that is what Trump is giving us, it is what the GOP wanted until Trump did it for them, why?

s it because all the other candidates are the establishment now or are being paid off by donors and special interests?

I’m absolutely sure, I’m not sure what you are challenging my claims on.. I am saying Trump will win by a large margin.

I hear he also trounces Hillary among left-handed blond-haired blue-eyed Mormons.

Note that registered Independents were 24% of the electorate in 2010.

In 2016, registered Independents are 42% of the electorate. That is off-the-charts in terms of political shifts, yet very little media attention is given to it.

There is a reason why independents have grown to be 42% of the electorate. The reason is they are very dissatisfied and disgusted with the political parties in Washington.

Thus, it is not at all surprising and is expected that Independents are behind Trump all the way.

Are you sure? They could be those ‘low information’ ‘unengaged’ voters snotty Cruz was talking about.

Cruz is being skewered hard on twitter for that remark. Isn’t he supposed to be a smart man?

Trump could beat Hillary to a bloody pulp (politically, of course), while playing a round at Trump National and holding a glass of Trump wine in one hand and a Trump steak in the other.

Cruz can beat Hillary, too, but it’s a bigger lift to bring the Indies to the conservative viewpoint; more so than the populist position.

His campaign was about having his southern firewall, but the problem for it was it was totally destroyed.

He also counted on evangelicals which have not gone for him and so where does he go if he got his conte4sted election and gets the nomination?

The campaign by Trump at the start was to run a general election one where as the other guy thought they could get the base and then turn left in the general and it is not working.

Say what you will but Trump has changed politics and the campaigns.

These types of polls started popping up with Romeny in 2012. I’m still looking at the RCP average polling and it still has Hillary winning easily.

If the republican elites hadn’t been working to convince REPUBLICAN VOTERS not to vote for Trump, it would be a runaway for Trump.

If the elites have their way Trump will get more votes from democrat voters than from republican voters and Hillary will get some republican votes. Has there ever been a dumber party?

Cruz should look at the top instead of bottom of the party when calling people dumb.

That will be the most watched debate in US political history.
