LIVE: Asteroid “B2Bomber” approaches close to Earth (webcast to begin at 12am EST)
Youtube ^ | Scheduled for Mar 10, 2016 | Ruptly TV

The “Near Earth Asteroid” discovered in 2013, which was called 2013 TX68 before being renamed to “B2Bomber,” will make its close approach to Earth on March 10. Slooh will broadcast the asteroid’s approach from Canary Islands Observatory.

The event will be followed by discussions by Slooh Astronomer, Eric Edelman, and scientist Dr. Mark Boslough, an expert on planetary science and global catastrophes.

The experts are unable to pin down the asteroid’s orbit, though it is suggested that it may pass as close as 11,000 miles, maybe even colliding with Earth in September 2017.

They were only off by 2.5 million miles. They should go into climate science next.

Asteroids actually do give me the creeps, much more so than “green meteorites” and certainly much more than comets.

Essentially, they a just big rocks that can, and will - only a matter of time and have in the past - hit the earth like a bullet even if they largely disintegrate before the impact.

It doesn’t have to be the “end of the world” impact, though that could happen though I think some humans will still survive and then repopulate, but even a small one could be like a nuke and imagine one hitting Los Angeles or New York. There will be no police coming to help you in that chaos, you better have your guns if you are nearby and any sort of survivor when the looting starts.

Asteroids. They bug me as much as emerging diseases. Disease has more impact to history than any Napolean or Hitler. And eventually, eventually, so will the horse-headed asteroid. Whatever asteroid it will be, it’s name will be the shape of the stone hurling to earth. The jack-o-latern. The old man’s face. The horse-head.

Thanks for sharing this article-video. September 2017. Interesting stuff. I think I will read Wind in the Willows tonight to take my mind off this. But ... I can’t get enough of it, either. The universe is fascinating.

Some blasts from the past.

And, yeah, all those complaints won’t make a spot of difference if a rock that big going that fast slams into the Earth.

Think I need a drink. It’s after 5:00 pm somewhere, isn’t it?

It arrived some hours earlier than expected, isn't that a relief? And only 100 feet across, similar in size to the Tunguska object in 1908 -- the one that knocked down hundreds of square miles of trees and released more kaboom than the Hiroshima bomb.
