Almost 400 people were in attendance for the Active Shooter Seminar held at the Newnan Centre on Tuesday.
According to statistics given during the presentation, the United States currently is seeing an average of 20 mass shootings annually. And while the odds of being involved in an active shooting situation may be slim, police stressed the need for a plan to be in place.

Chi-Raq, Detroit, Atlanta, etc don’t count see?
Frankly, the guiding light of my safety protocol revolves around knowing if where I’ll be going, will be or might consider involves whether there is a reasonable suspicion there might be Muslims living nearby.
If I am forced for some reason or the other to have to venture in or near one of these places, I am definitely armed with extra magazines.
The usual approach is ADD.
Avoid: get away.
Deny: Seek cover.
Defend: Fight. No such thing as a fair fight.
Since virtually all mass shootings are planned and occur in Gun Free Zones, my recommendation for the Plan is to ban Gun Free Zones. If that doesn't work then the best alternative is to require armed security in Gun Free Zones. If they don't do that the one thing left to do is avoid Gun Free Zones at all costs.
Evidenty this is suburban Atlanta, although it’ never stated in the article.
It’s just interesting when the 0bamination gets on TV condemning mass shootings (the MSM considers any more than 3 is a mass shooting) never mentions the weekend death count in Chi-Raq, his hometown.
It would be nice if those posting articles would “somewhere” in the posted abstract give some indication of at least what STATE it applies to, or even better, both city and state. Having only “times-herald.com” to go by tells me zip as to the place the article is talking about.
Law enforcement has an “active shooter” protocol, the roots of which go back to the bleed-out of the teacher at Columbine and continued student deaths while the cops established a perimeter and systematically cleared hundreds of backpacks.
With Never Again in mind, the new protocol is Get the Shooter. Police, sheriffs’ deputies, and school leaders from many communities were trained together. The school people incorporated new protocols into teacher and student training and into disaster plans.
Needless to say, schools are gun-free zones, and the plan doesn’t include armed teachers, but it does give a relative unimpeded entry for law enforcement and the first responders who follow after the shooter is taken down.
No concealed firearms here either.

This is in Virginia, but northern Virgina, so I’m not surprised.
