His irrationality of his chances eerily reminds me of Adolph Hitler in his bunker those last days of WWII.
Yeb! just needs to go out and play in some heavy traffic. He’s just too damned stupid to be POTUS and we have had more than enough of the Bush Family.
Jeez-us! Why do they keep shoving this guy down our proverbial throats?
“Why do they keep shoving this guy down our proverbial throats?”
I think the RNC & GOPE want to keep him on deck through to July, do some manipulation of delegates’ votes even if it means cash under the table, and announce him as our candidate.
The positive here is that Jeb! is setting realistic goals for himself that he intends to keep. Go Bush!
I like Jeb Bush, he takes a lot of bad rap, and people like to take pot shots at the dynasty, but I like him. He ain’t all that bad. I would LOVE to have him over Hillary, or Bernie
Back during his father’s and his brother’s administrations the media reports on their polling numbers never seemed to grasp that a large proportion of those expressing disapproval did so from the “right”. Bush I was elected once on the coat tails of Reagan, and Bush II was barely elected twice in large part because he was fortunate enough to have a raving imbecile and a male gold digger cum fraudulent military “hero” as opponents. By 2008 the Bush “brand” was effectively destroyed and all the PAC money and denials in the world won’t bring it back, especially since this latest princeling is so laughably incompetent.
He’s going to waltz into the convention with his 2% of the vote and come out the GOPe candidate. At that point I wouldn’t blame any of the real contenders if they went independent. If we have Bush as a candidate, Hillary wins.
I wonder how Trump or another would go about running a third-party candidacy, or run as an independent. It would take some major organizational skills and putting them into action quickly. I think Trump could handle it, ‘cause what he’s done every day of his life has been multi-faceted. Not sure about any other candidate.
Maybe this is what the RNC had up its sleeve at the first debate when they had all candidates raise their hands vowing to run as GOP.
I should have thought that the editors at Politico would hire headline writers who know to not split the infinitive.
But, no such luck.
>> Bush II was barely elected twice <<
Unlike 2001, 2004 in fact was not a “barely” sort of event. It wasn’t a landslide, to be sure, but it was a good, solid victory.
On the other hand, I agree with you that Bush 43 was lucky to face such a doofus as Kerry in 2004. A better Dhim candidate that year might have turned the tables on Bush.

I think Trump would not be able to get on the ballot in some states, due to their “sore loser” laws.
But with all the free media attention he’d get, he might carry a few states and get just enough electoral votes to deny a majority to either the Dhim or Pub nominee.
Then the election would be thrown into the House of Reps, where each state would have only one vote, and where the ‘Pubs probably would have a majority of state delegations. Would those delegations then rally to Trump? Or would they even wanna make a “deal” with him? I gotta doubt it.

it was only Ohio that decided the Bush victory. Had the Dems won Ohio they would have won. What do you mean good solid victory?
Strategically, that’s all he needs to do. The field is half gone, he only got 3 pct in Iowa and is polling at 10 in NH (showing progress), and he still has the GOPe bankrollers behind him if he starts to show some life. SC and NV will be the real tests, and he will likely drop out after Super Tuesday (March 1) if he hasn’t topped double digits yet (which means the GOPe will back their remaining top dog at the time).
