Good morning from Augusta, where a large group of Republican legislators and activists is set to endorse presidential hopeful Ted Cruz on Thursday.
Between 40 and 50 legislators will hold a noon news conference at the State House to announce support for the Texas senator, who won the Iowa caucuses on Monday, finishing ahead of runner-up Donald Trump and the third-place Marco Rubio...

Oh wow, Maine. Now THERE’S a bastion of conservatism!
Bravo Ted! :applause:
Weird from such a liberal state. Or maybe not.
The way Cruz folks have been knocking the Northeast around here they will probably be disappointed by this..
but djt’s support on NH is of course yuge!!! ;)
Like that is going to happen.
The conservatives in Maine are probably just as insulted by your insinuation as the conservatives in California, like the guy who runs this site.
These are not Democrat endorsements or akin to Chuck Shumer’s support of Trump, for example.
Of course it is not weird. Cruz is plenty acceptable to the gope globaists, cheap labor express. They thought Jeb had a better chance of winning, but now that he has bombed they want Cruz or Rubio. Any one but Trump.
One batch of Maine GOP endorses unqualified Cruz; a second group is going to endorse unqualified Rubio. The Maine GOP - the outfit that floats the likes of Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins as “conservatives.”
It caucuses on March 5th and awards 23 delegates. The Paulistas have done quite well here in the past.
He claims (er brags) after all, that's where he came by them, growing up in NY!
The endorsements could be a result of Mr. Cruz threatening to expose their voting records to their neighbors.
He got away with it in Iowa, so he might as well try Maine.
TWB
Anything to avoid a shaming letter. LOL!
I have gotten the same type of campaign letter and just ignored it, like I do all campaign letters. People want to act like this is something that Ted Cruz came up with and it isn’t. It has been used by campaigns for years.
I love it. Conservatives endorse Cruz, and the Trump Chumps and prima-Donnas whine that Cruz appeals only to extremists in the party. But Maine Republicans — most of whom actually are quite more conservatives than the fifth columnists coming out for Trump lately — support Cruz, and the Trump Chumps criticize their conservative credentials because of the state they live in.
Say, did you notice that the Republican party in Maine gave Snowe so much grief she retired in 2012?
Or that Maine Republicans rallied behind Pierre Le Page? Or that Bruce Poliquin won in the House after DC Republicans branded him unelectable?
I don’t like those letters either, but they are quite standard, and are used by campaigns on both sides of the aisle all across the country. Indeed, I have received that exact letter several times out here on the west coast. It is much to do about nothing IMHO.
What I care about is that Ted Cruz did what he told his constituents he said he would do when he went to Washington D.C. He has proven he is not a campaign conservative, but rather the genuine article, as evidenced by his 97%-100% conservative/pro-liberty voting record.
That is why I am voting for Ted Cruz.
Between 40 and 50 legislators? That’s HUGE!!! There are only 89 Republican legislators in the whole state! (out of 189).
Awesome news!
“Between 40 and 50 legislators will hold a noon news conference “
I know when I am not sure who to support, I listen to the politicians because they know what is best for the people. LOL
