In New Hampshire, GOP governors take aim at a resurgent Marco Rubio
The Washington Post ^ | 02/02/2016 | Philip Rucker

Posted on 02/02/2016 6:02:31 PM PST by ScottWalkerForPresident2016

Marco Rubio’s surprisingly strong showing in the Iowa caucuses reshuffled the already intense competition here in New Hampshire among the Republican establishment candidates, leading some to sharpen their attacks on the freshman senator from Florida ahead of next week’s primary.

The sense of urgency was on display here Tuesday as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie belittled Rubio’s toughness, his intelligence and even his manhood.

Why is the media trying so desperately to manufacture a Rubio "surge"? It's just embarrassing that they're doing it on something as flimsy as him finishing in his expected third place in Iowa, but it being a "stronger" third-place finish than many thought a month ago.

Rubio did almost 50% better in Iowa than he was supposed to do, while Cruz, Trump, and Carson all underperformed their peak polling.

The other candidates know this, and are intelligently pointing their knives in his direction.

The candidate who does the unexpected gets the attention.

Don't worry - Trump will say something outrageous again to get his attention back.

You know, there was another guy that finished Iowa with an unexpectedly strong showing: the actual winner, Ted Cruz.

In point of fact, Cruz got more votes than any previous Republican caucus winner.

But, since the media lemmings have latched onto Rubio, that’s all they want to talk about.

Um... because he is surging... dude he almost took 2nd place!

If you don’t think that’s a big story worth covering, I just disagree.

Imagine if last night O’Malley had almost taken 2nd in the Democratic primary. It would have been wall to wall coverage of O’malley today.

It’s all about expectations and who exceeded them and who fell short.

This is nothing new, Iowa is ALWAYS this way.

Christie calls Rubio the “boy in the bubble” today.

Rubio has high connections to FOX for one. Think it is his campaign advisor who is married to someone really high up at FOX.

As for the media, well they know damn well that if Trump or Cruz got it that would be their worst nightmare.

Cruz broke 30% and went below it, finishing with 28% - so it wasn't "unexpectedly" strong.

He was supposed to win, then he started losing ground to Trump, then Trump foolishly boycotted the debate, and Cruz then locked it in.

Always remember, no matter the circumstances, the writing or the opinion, that the Washington Post is nothing more than a propaganda rag for filthy leftists, communists, fascists and the democrat Marxist party. The Goebbel’s pigs want you, your family, your religion and your culture dead. Period. Exclamation point.

I have not been able to watch coverage today and was catching up.... Saw Christie call Rubio boy in the bubble several times! Dared him to take questions vs spew prepared comments for every question, and directly saying the entire GOPe is scripting him morning noon and night. He was angry but hiding it just barely!

The media whores want the status quo so they can continue to get their background interviews and invites to elitist dinners & cocktail parties.

“This is nothing new, Iowa is ALWAYS this way.”

That’s why everyone should take a deep breath and wait for some of the “real states” to have their say. Quite frankly, I’d be all for booting Iowa to the back of the line because their “caucuses” are just nutty!

Relative to the rest of the GOP-e, Rube-o is competent enough to advance their interests without looking like a complete idiot (such as Carson and ¿Yeb? would).
