Cruz Right, Trump Wrong On Ethanol
American Thinker ^ | January 30, 2016 | Daniel John Sobieski

It has been said that if we were getting so-called “alternative” energy from potatoes instead of corn, the first primary/caucus would be held in Idaho instead of Iowa. As it is, ethanol from corn in the first state where votes are actually cast in a presidential election has led to endless political pandering in support of a fuel that consumes more energy than it provides, is difficult to transport, reduces car mileage, can damage auto enegines, and damages the environment.

True, but on the list of things that need to be fixed, this is well down in the double digits.

I’m tired of supporting terrorists will oil money. I’d rather pay a little more to support American farmers. To each his own.

Depends on if you’re talking about getting more votes, or what is the right thing to do.

Support American farmers by requiring origin labeling on food and buying American grown food. Don’t support them by having them burn food in an inefficient scam.

End support of terrorist oil producers by supporting politicians who will greatly reduce regulations and on American oil and put some more tariffs on imported oil.

This is why they hate Cruz. They call him a purist. The deal cutters caved and mocked him. Trump in particular. He’s the one who many here say is the great one, yet he curry favored with this vote-buying move as if it’s actually beneficial to anyone beyond big corn. We the people pay for this type of nonsense.

It is the worst crap ever to be put in fuel. It has ruined hundreds of millions of $ worth of engines.

Whoever dreamed this program up needs an enema with ethanol.

In reality, this is about subsidies. Cruz has it as part of his program to cut subsidies to ALL energy segments.

They are shutting down oil wells every day because we have a surfeit of the stuff. Do we need to take money from our citizens to buy foodstuffs to burn up when we have an excess of petroleum?

Is there no rationalization to which supporters of Donald Trump will not resort?

I have opposed ethanol, for many reasons, economical and technical, long before Trump was AGAIN on the wrong side of an issue. But buying votes with pork is not a new concept.

Do you have any comment on the mailer the Cruz campaign has admitted sent out, showing the targeted individual's voting record (and their neighbors') and attempting to shame them into attending the Iowa caucuses?

Seems like a mistake...
