Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump began his Thursday-night charity event by touting all of the people --including himself -- who wrote big checks for it.
Trump announced that he would suddenly host a fundraiser for veterans as an alternative to going to the Fox News primary debate.
Trump boycotted the event after repeatedly complaining about Fox host Megyn Kelly, one of the moderators at the debate, as well as the network overall.
"First, we have to talk about people that made a lot of money," Trump began. "They wouldn't have made a lot of money, they wouldn't even be here, if it weren't for the vets and our great military."
"Carl Icahn gave $500,000. One quick phone call," Trump said, referring to his fellow billionaire whose support he frequently touts on the campaign trail.

God Bless Donald Trump. Such a good man and a guy who really loves America and wants to save it. We are incredibly lucky to have him as our Republican nomination to the President of the United States. What a great night.
Trump just lifted America one step higher than any ‘politician’ could ever have done, and certainly more than any Sanders, Clinton could have even imagined...

I thought both Santorum and Huck were so good. John Wayne and his two military buddies and Diamond and Silk were great too.
Tried to watch on CNN, big mistake. Only saw bits of it, they kept breaking in with comments, many negative, including opinions from Bob Beckel and Van Jones.
Tonight's was Donald's friend who said he had sent $1 million and Donald returned it.
At the last Iowa event, the story about Donald helping out that female farmer.
I think there is a little humbleness to the Donald as he doesn't boast about these acts as others have to bring it up.
The Trump event compared with the debate was like a Rolling Stones concert to an hour of Yoko Ono.
What a moving event. Trump is a leader and a uniter. It is wonderful the attention Trump has brought to our veterans.
And to our vets....Thank You!

Same with us. CNN broke in with trivialities by Beckel, and we missed comments. We switched to CSpan.

I tried CNN and quickly got the cruds of them switching to Shrillary, Sanders or Bob Beckel any time something interesting was happening on stage.
Switched to C-SPAN and got to watch the rest of it without anybody else barging in, and without commercials. I was a bit apprehensive about how Trump’s event would go. With the donors he introduced, with Diamond and Silk, and with the three veterans giving their insights, it turned out great.
