Dinesh D'Souza: National Review Won't 'Dent Donald Trump's Real Support'
News Max ^ | 22 Jan 2016 | Bill Hoffmann

National Review's scathing indictment of Donald Trump will do very little to dissuade most Republicans from supporting him for the GOP presidential nomination, conservative pundit and acclaimed documentary filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza tells Newsmax TV.

"I don't think this is going to dent Trump's real support," D'Souza said Friday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

...

"It is good for intellectual conservatives to weigh in on this. Their points are not entirely invalid. Also, National Review historically has had a role of, you may say, policing the right. Even in Buckley's day," he said.

"There was a John Birch Society, there were people who were anti-Semitic while claimed to be conservative and Buckley saw it as his job to say the fence is drawn over here, you're on the outside of the fence.

"So they're trying to play a little bit of that historical role, but of course the circumstances are quite different."

That is absolutely true. The question is whether any of it makes a difference to voters on the fence.
70% or so don’t support DT. Is it possible that as their candidates drop out they will not go DT?

One third of primary voters want Trump, 2/3 don’t...but that 2/3 is fractured among multiple ‘Pub candidates. The liberal/moderate cum squishy populist may win by a series of pluralities. Massive buyers’ remorse to follow when they realize they’ve nominated and perhaps elected White Obama.

This is a good article, well worth following the link. Agree or disagree, D’Souza is always interesting. He gives several positive reasons for Trump’s popularity.

85 percent don’t support Cruz, about 95 percent don’t support Bush, 90 percent don’t support Rubio.

How come I never see anyone siting these stats, only tirelessly repeating “70 percent don’t support Trump.”

The thing is, once Trump takes 3 or 4 out of the first 4 contests, people aren’t going to bother voting or caucusing for people who stand no chance of winning, so they’ll either stay home, or switch their vote, most likely to someone they know is going to win.

It's entirely possible that those who are not for Trump now may never be.

We'll know the night of March 15th.

Because Trump is currently the frontrunner?

lets hope the moderate part is at least right if he wins.

we’ll have to vote for him if he takes the primary.

i think so many are terrified about losing the country, they want a leader more than a conservative.

i must confess i’ve fallen a little into that frame of thought,

It solidified my vote for Trump. Where were all these pure conservatives banding together when the GOP utterly screwed McDaniel in the Mississippi election?

No because we don’t know who’s where. After giving the Republicans the majority in 2014, they have done nothing. Absolutely nothing. None of them are conservatives. Trump would be better than anyone of the so called conservatives in congress. Why? Because you can always find on their record of votes where they strayed from true conservatism.

If FR is anything to go by, Cruz & Trump supporters are dug in and are not going to move. But Dinesh really gets it!

Trump needs to be grilled on his position for or against an Article V Convention of States to radically limit the size, scope and power of all branches of the Federal govt. If his knowledge of the Constitution is as limited as his Bible knowledge, that will be troubling.

National Review used to be on my list of yearly contributions. Only $25 but I’ll save that that this year. Sorry I gave to them in December. They could have warned me they were coming out with this article.

No, the National Review will end up supporting either Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders if Trump gets the nomination.

99.9% of American’s have no idea who the Gang of 22 are.

They just threw the kitchen sink at Trump and guess what, they relegated themselves to the dustheap of history.

Proven arrogant and irrelevant. It’s like it was a triple dog dare by the leader of the retards, groupthink kicked in and now they are on global display as high resolution ass cracks.

Happy am I. (poke)

On the white Obama comment:

Can we agree that Obama is anti-American and Trump is pro-American?
