Cruz Unfazed by McCain's Birther Attacks: 'Everyone Knows He's Going to Endorse Rubio'
PJ Media ^ | 01-08-2016 | Michael van der Galien

Posted on 01/08/2016 11:51:58 AM PST by Michael van der Galien

On Laura Ingraham's radio show today, Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said he's not surprised by John McCain's dishonest birther attacks. For those who missed it, McCain said yesterday that Cruz may not be eligible because he was born in Canada. Of the course the Arizona senator -- who himself was born in the Panama Canal Zone -- knows full well that Cruz is a natural-born citizen, but that doesn't matter; he hates Cruz, which is why he does everything in his power to derail the Texan's presidential campaign. If he has to lie to do so, so be it.

Cruz explained to Ingraham that he saw this attack coming from miles away:

"Everyone knows that John McCain is going to endorse Marco Rubio. Their views on foreign policy are almost exactly the same, their views on immigration are the same. And so it's no surprise that he sees the candidate that he wants to support is not having the traction he would like. And so he is attacking me. And look, that's politics, I'm not surprised by it."

And so instead of being flummoxed by it, Cruz immediately turned the attack to his advantage by explaining that it proves that he, not Donald Trump, is now the frontrunner:

"[W]hat we're seeing... It's really striking Laura, what we have seen, three weeks ago just about every Republican candidate in the field was attacking Donald Trump. Today, just about every candidate in the Republican field is attacking me. That kinda suggests that maybe something has changed."

It goes without saying that Cruz is right...

Good response.

I went from considering Rubio a lower possibility to promising myself to never vote for Rubio for anything. Well, if we start voting for trash collector, okay. He seems experienced at that.

I am no peacenik, but if you want another mid-east entanglement war Rubio is your guy. I am not saying the next president will not take us to war, the reality is we are a war but with an unwilling president. So the questions is do you want McCain pulling Rubio’s strings on how we conduct our next war or Ted Cruz?

How will Sen. McCain feel when Rubio tells him to hold off on the endorsement because it will hurt him. Portraying Rubio as a nicer, younger McCain is smart move by Cruz.

Shrugged off McCain and hung him around Rubio’s neck, all in one fell swoop. It’s like watching a political Fred Astaire.

John McCain doesn’t even know how many houses he owns, much less what he’s talking about on a daily basis. Come on Arizona, why do you keep electing this senile old fool to the Senate?

We should take stock of what Rubio/Paul and FR Trumpbots have tried to stick Cruz with recently.

1) He flip-flopped on Sodomite marriage...Proven false
2) He supported amnesty...Proven false
3) He flip-flopped on Big Corn...Proven false
4) He’s not a naturalized citizen..Proven false

They refused to walk it back and doubled down on it. They’re still talking about it too. Cruz has risen in the polls.

AZ elects McPain so AZ will be in the national news; otherwise, it might be forgotten, like, say SD.

Is it legal to go to AZ, rent a PO Box, get a AZ
DL, register to vote, just to vote in the AZ primary?

Just wondering.

I wouldn’t vote for the duplicitous LIAR Rubio for trash collector and wouldn’t want to see him be a trash collector. He’d likely be rummaging through the trash looking for material to do identity theft.

Actually, McCain was NOT born in the Panama Canal Zone. He was born in Panama, where the hospital was located.

Of course, it was an American military hospital, even though it was in a foreign country, so you could make an argument that it qualified.

Probably 50-50 that he will endorse Benghazi Clinton and if she is in jail, he will endorse Slow Joe who will be pulled out of the trash bin of history to save the Democratic Party.
