A southeastern Idaho cafeteria worker said she was fired for giving a student a free meal costing $1.70, but the school district offered her the job back after a national outcry.

Dalene Bowden received a termination letter from the Pocatello School District last week after she gave a tray of food to a 12-year-old student who said she didn't have money for the meal.

Well, at least someone in the public schools has some common sense.

If she wanted to provide charity she should have reached into her own pocket and paid for the food.

Instead she reached into somebody else’ pocket, like good little Lieberal.

And it took a massive storm of outrage to do it.

The Left truly thinks they can get away with anything now, because up to now, there has been no pushback from the herbivores known as the Mercun Peepul.

She tried to pay herself. They wouldn’t let her and fired her instead.

That's the Christmas spirit we know and love.

There is more to this story that we have heard. Almost *never* is an employee terminated without a minimum of two written and documented warnings.

My guess is that she’s been doing this all along, has been warned, and continued anyway.

In the televised interview, she stated “I would do it again”.

So I’m with you on this one.

“She tried to pay herself. They wouldn’t let her and fired her instead.”

That is all the news media chose to tell you.

I understand her compassion, but she did this before, and they have warned her before to stop giving their merchandise away when someone is over $11. in debt. Stop doing it!
As others have suggested, she could have reached into her own pocket to provide, if not then and there, on her next break from the register.

If she’s smart, she will immediately take her job back and NOT give any following interviews. Were she to say something else that made the school district look bad, they would get even and her job status would be ‘up for review’ upon the next evaluation. No, it’s not nice, but the school district is composed of other people, not robots or perfect beings devoid of all vanity.

Don't bet on it.

I spent nearly thirty years working in public schools. She got her job back because there was attention brought to bear and the easiest route for the school district was to give her her job back. But these leftest have long memories.

She'll be gone by the end of the school year for some trumped up reason.

This woman broke one of their sacred rules and "by God, she will pay!"

Why not give it to a child who apparently wanted it instead of the brats who ate the nuggets and threw out the rest. What? Do you think they put it in the refrigerator for tomorrow?

Well it seems according to the accounts that she asked to pay too, and also this may have been covered by the normal over production that they do in order to avoid running out.

Some people are SO hasty to get condemnatorily moralistic they don’t even get the whole story. I don’t blame “stealing” here — I blame overlawyering. The district may have been scared that violating the rule would put them in jeopardy of some legal consequence that no sane person would wish on them, but that little minded, illiberal liberals would.

Well please bring that “more” explicitly out, and why we should believe your version of the “more.” We really get tired of the resident devils. They should at least prove their cases, at a minimum.

Yeah, the legalities were followed, but how wrongheaded were they? That’s the principle that eventually prevailed. If you want to be Grinchy about that, fine. But don’t expect us to join an amen chorus over it.

When I was on KP in basic training we loaded seven trucks with wasted food, every day, three times a day for a whole week. They could have fed all of Africa. Them Texas hawgs ate real good.
