Illinois losing 1 resident every 5 minutes to out-migration

Illinois losing 1 resident every 5 minutes to out-migration

The U.S. Census Bureau report released Dec. 22 is compelling evidence that Illinois needs pro-growth, pro-jobs reforms. The report shows that Illinois recorded its first six-digit loss of residents to other states, with Illinois losing 105,000 more people to other states than it gained from July 2014 to July 2015.

The border war losses were so bad that Illinois total population shrank by 22,000 people on the year, the worst ever. Similar to last year 2013-2014 data, Illinois is the only state in the region to have a shrinking population.

The 2014-2015 loss brings Illinois five-year tally to 400,000 people lost on net to other states, and 10-year tally to 700,000 people lost on net to other states.

Based on the Census data, Illinois is now losing one person to another state every five minutes, on net. This is the fastest rate ever, up from one person every 7.5 minutes in 2011.

The overwhelming out-migration losses drove Illinois population to shrink by 22,000 people. Like every other state, Illinois had more births than deaths. And like every other state, Illinois gained people from international immigration. Without factoring in the domestic border wars, Illinois population would have grown by around 80,000. However, Illinois’ 105,000-person net migration loss to other states was so tremendous that the state’s population shrank by 22,000 people on the year.

Yes, but think of all the Somalis, Syrians(yeah, right), Turks, Nigerians, Jamaicans, etc. it will get. Seems like a net zero to me....would the actual voting be any different?

“Illinois gained people from international immigration.”

There goes the neighborhood.

Yes, that is a problem.

Texas does not want Californication nuts immigrating there for that reason.

“With Illinois’ population shrinking two years in a row, Pennsylvania is now closing in on the Land of Lincoln and could soon become the fifth-most-populous state in the U.S. Modest annual population growth in the Keystone State combined with a shrinking population in Illinois means that Pennsylvania is now within 57,500 people of Illinois for total population. Illinois’ July 2015 population estimate is 12,859,995, compared to Pennsylvania’s 12,802,503.

The population gap between Illinois and Pennsylvania has been closing since the 2010 census. This turn of events should worry Illinoisans because Pennsylvania itself is barely growing. Based on the trend line from the last five years, Pennsylvania’s total population could catch up to Illinois’ by the next census in 2020.”

No fears. The PA dem gov is raising taxes with the blessings of the republicans and so there should be a loss of smart people. However, PA is a big sanctuary state (lots of Russians, too) so hey, whatever. I’ve been trying to get out for over a year.

Send all of Obama’s Syrians to the south side of Chicago, and we can all watch as two problems are resolved.

Yep... Texas is being flooded by people fleeing the conditions of blue states, they come here and vote democrat.
Texas not only needs a wall on the sounthern border, but one all the way around it.

As I always post in these threads, Illinois is not losing population.

They have hundreds of thousands of illegal Hispanics that have flowed in the past 15 years. One of the major unreported stories in the country.

For whatever reason Illinois has been a prime destination.

I’ve got Texans moving in next door to me here in Michigan after Christmas.

He’s a semi retired history professor who is taking a part time job at UofM but sounded standard issue conservative when we talked. I love history so I think we’ll get along fine.

If the Illinois State Police would just be posted at all the major Interstates and bridges out of Illinois, and make them turn around, it would all stop....

I left Illinois years ago, after living there seventeen years, much of it in and around the northwest suburbs of Chicago, and going into the city daily. I did not vote Democrat all the time I was there, so my departure only allowed the Democrats to gain ascendancy by one more vote.

Probably a great proportion of the people leaving Illinois are NOT Democrat, having grown tired of supporting the indigent class.

The problem with “migrating Illinois” people is many of them are coming to Wisconsin, namely the “gibsmedats” and their kind who bring their problems with them. We need a Trump type wall on our southern border.

So, do we have to wait 4 years for Illinois to lose one or two representatives?

New York lost over 100,000 two years in a row. I know New Jersey has also lost a lot of people due to high taxes.

Because for whatever reason, people there not only turn a blind eye to it all, but feel some sort of self-righteousness about ‘helping’ poor Jaunita and Jose. Illegals there are so prevalent, they don’t even have to pretend to hide. They work in plain sight in every single service industry and construction trade.

"For whatever reason Illinois has been a prime destination."

Illinois' illegal immigrant population and cost

Illinois census stats show it is home to the highest population of illegal immigrants in the nation's Midwest. FAIR.org estimates the cost of illegal immigrants to Illinois taxpayers as being nearly $4.6 billion.

The Center for Immigration Studies, a nonprofit research group opposed to increased immigration, identified Champagne County in central Illinois, Cook County near Chicago and the city of Chicago as sanctuary cities in a new interactive map published in October.

The number of these U.S. cities, counties and states that refuse to prosecute illegal immigrants or cooperate with federal enforcement is increasing, along with the number of criminal releases, the Center for Immigration Studies recently reported. Roughly 340 jurisdictions are hindering immigration enforcement, and together these sanctuaries are releasing about 1,000 criminal aliens per month.
