Usually affirmative action diversicrats are sneaky enough to disguise their efforts to discriminate against targeted racial groups – almost always whites (because they are the majority) and Asians (because they study and work hard and achieve). They use code word language like “goals” and “diversity,” and avoid giving the impression that certain groups are ruled out from consideration.
That’s what makes the honesty of a job posting at the state-funded University of Louisville so unusual. Inside Higher Education (hat tip: Legal Insurrection) reports:
can a department specifically reserve a position for an underrepresented minority candidate? That’s what some are asking after a job ad for an assistant professorship reserved for nonwhite, non-Asian Ph.D.s was abruptly deleted from a jobs site on Tuesday.
The post (inactive but still cached here) on HigherEdJobs mostly resembled a typical ad, encouraging applicants “with a Ph.D. in physics or a related area, a strong research record and a passion for teaching” to apply. It also included a standard equal employment opportunity statement saying the University of Louisville is “an affirmative action, equal opportunity, Americans with disabilities employer, committed to community engagement and diversity, and in that spirit, seeks applications from a broad variety of candidates.”
But just under that statement, the ad continued, “The Department of Physics and Astronomy announces a tenure-track assistant professor position that will be filled by an African-American, Hispanic American or a Native American Indian [sic].”
On the one hand, the honesty is refreshing, and preferable to the sneakiness that usually sugar coats official discrimination. On the other hand, it could well be illegal. That’s why it disappeared.
When, oh when, will America finally stop discriminating in the name of “fairness” (i.e., equality of outcomes)?

Then white and Asian students SHOULD NOT apply to attend that school.
This kind of crap Drives me to drink (Sigh)
This is the kind of BS when pols, bureaucrats and courts start messing with the “plain language” of statutes and Constitutions.
“No person” means exactly that. NO person shall be discriminated against because of race . . . NO person shall be denied due process of law. You can’t get any plainer than that
The jerks who created or approved (or ignored) this posting should be FIRED. No probation, no “admin leave” no false lecturing, F I R E D
I worked at Univ. of Lousyville for three years, in their IT department.
I can tell you today, the mask is off. They’re not even TRYING to disguise The Agenda any longer. They don’t need to - they control the media, the government, the law enforcement organs, and the minds of the majority of the populace.
clearly illegal.
Which completely describes the standards of the faculty.
Avoid those schools at all costs.
The taxpayers should vote to defund such racist organizations.
Stanford and other top tier universities have full time minority faculty recruiters trying to do that.
I was a professor for 15 years. This kind of stuff happens all of the time. I was on search committees where we were told point blank to hire a woman or a non-asian minority. We could not even consider applications from white males.
“On the one hand, the honesty is refreshing,”
It is and prefer it instead of playing the courtesy game when we both hate each other.
This is nothing new - although it used to be advertised more like this:
“Such-and-such minority candidate preferred”.
One of the reasons why I left academia was that the university I was working at hired three minority profs because they were minority profs. Their ability or accomplishments did not enter into it. The jobs did not exist. Jobs were created for them. No job was actually advertised (because none actually existed). Instead, possible placements were found by liberal profs in our department tapping into the liberal network of profs around the country and asking if they knew the right kind of jelly bean to fit the flavor of the month. Some of us were disgusted by the whole thing but we were overruled. The debates were hilarious. They sometimes ran like this:
Opponent: But what job is this person going to fill? We need someone to teach pre-19th century Japan. Is this person going to do that?
Proponent: No, his expertise is the American space race.
O: So we’re going to hire someone we don’t need to fill a job that doesn’t exist while leaving openings - like pre-19th century Japan - that we still desperately need to fill?
P: Well, yes, but the Affirmative Action Office will cover part of the cost. And we will have a more diversified teaching staff.
O: But the man in question doesn’t teach anything we need.
P: Well, he can also teach African-American history of course.
O: Oh, so you’re saying that because he’s black he’s automatically qualified to teach African-American history even though all of his research work is in the Space Race not the Black Race in America. Isn’t that a racist assumption on your part then?
P: [stunned silence]
That this college is being criticized for being open and honest about their discrimination is almost humorous. All of the universities and colleges discriminate in hiring, in accepting students, and in giving out scholarships. They just pretend that they are not.
The Ivys have teams of people keeping their eye out for them (so does business) and they are snatched up immediately.
It is sort of like running a newspaper ad for an astronaut.
And that's the university president at the bottom right in their Halloween staff picture.
Excellent Point.
How many new minted Ph.Ds in Physics are black, brown, and/or female? Not many; those that are will be recruited at high salaries from Harvard, MIT, Cal Tech, etc. Those candidates for faculty positions would not even consider a place like the University of Louisville.
I think a university with no students is what many of these big thinkers would consider a perfect job.
