Nationalists propose anti-ISIS lessons in Russian schools

The Motherland party has prepared legal amendments that would order secondary schools to conduct anti-terrorist propaganda among pupils and explain the role of the state in countering extremist groups, such as the infamous Islamic State.

"In the current situation the government must oppose the terrorist propaganda in all spheres of our society, but primarily in secondary and high schools. Teachers must form a negative attitude to terrorism and extremism among their students. They must use real life examples to explain the dangers of the separatist, racist and radical religious concepts," Motherland leader Aleksey Zhuravlyov said in comments with Izvestia daily.

He added that he was aware of the fact that schools were already providing anti-terrorist propaganda lessons as part of a course called 'basics of a safe lifestyle', but said that the scale of the threat demands constant attention to the problem throughout the entire educational process.

Zhuravlev also emphasized that if his bill is passed into law, its implementation would not require any additional funding from the federal budget.

This is interesting from RT, in both the fact that it is intended for mandatory public education, but also that RT and the Motherland party don't mince words and clearly label this material as "propaganda".

Propaganda is widely taught in American public education regarding Globull Warming, peaceful Islam, the success of Socialist economics, and the right of National Guard members to bear arms, among others, but government employees and the media certainly won't use the P word about that stuff.

Fascinating, from the standpoint that the “extremists” in Russia understand the very powerful nature of incorporating “ideas” into public education over and above math & language, etc; and want to get it going.

If anyone would doubt the absolute correctness of this idea, that infecting schools with propaganda works, look at the state of most students in public schools today.

I’m making a pure Machiavellian statement, not a judgement. However, the converse is also true (adding additional verification to the thesis) the *absence* of any moralistic teaching in our schools, indeed the teaching that there should be a full-on destruction of *anything* once considered moral....is also having its effects.

As long as we remain on the current or even any similar course in regards to ISIS and the like, we will lose.

We could win the kinetic war, but we are very badly losing the propaganda war - our efforts are unprofessional, amateurish, and a bad joke, while ISIS efforts are professional and polished aimed at the young crowd in the visual language they understand; we put up a stilted postcard, ISIS puts up a modern movie.

We need to take a page from the Russians or begin learning the koran.

Look how well the “anti-capitalist” propaganda has worked in this country by those same liberal teachers some who now profess to be terrified of their product. How well the anti-Christian secularists advocates have removed God from class rooms to the halls of government to foot ball fields...but the biggest propaganda bit is Political Correctness....all could be pretty much erased if their foot print was removed from classrooms to church’s to families and a renewal of the importance of the Ten Commandments or some rules like them instituted in place of PC. ...it is called honesty and faith.

I'm all for pro capitalist propaganda to be taught in public schools, for example:

I’d also let them know that the biggest mass murderers of the world were also socialists. Show pictures of Detroit before and now, let them know socialist policies were responsible.
