Ted Cruz: ‘I do not agree’ with Trump’s Muslim moratorium
WashTimes ^ | 12/8/15 | Seth McLaughlin -

GOP presidential contender Ted Cruz said Tuesday that he disagrees with rival Donald J. Trump's plan to ban Muslims from coming into the United States until the federal government can ensure that those coming into the nation do not pose a threat to the country.

"I do not agree with his proposal," the Texas senator said at a press conference on Capitol Hill. “I do not think it is the right solution.”

Mr. Cruz said that some have encouraged him to criticize Mr. Trump, but said he will not to so. Instead, he said he is pushing solutions aimed at putting a three year moratorium on refugees from Syria and Iraq, and giving governors more power to stop refugees from being resettled in their states.

Mr. Trump has tangled with most of the candidates in the GOP field ..with the exception of Mr. Cruz .. though he warned at a rally in South Carolina that he will respond in kind if Mr. Cruz attacks him.

This illustrates the greatest reservation I have about Cruz. Can sufficient ‘peer pressure’ be brought to make him crack and equivocate or compromise. This indicates to me that yes, it can. When he has something to lose, Cruz will play an excessively cautious game, IMO. He -knows- better. But does he truly have the grit? I think not. This is a question about fortitude, not intellect.

Cruz is a politician. That is something I accept. It explains his non-statement of a statement last night when commenting on Trump’s latest soundbite. After delivering a non-statement to give himself time to ponder the issue and possibly, as you say, take “peer pressure” into account, Ted fell flat on face.

The only conceivable thing I can think of is his statement, which is un-Cruz-like, plays well in Iowa where his focus has been.

In which case, he is pandering.

This all happened 600 years ago across Europe. The result was Islam was outlawed and the Muslims (Muslim invaders, forced converts and their descendants) were required to convert to Christianity or leave.

This is what happens when people aren*t taught history.

Until 9/11, the Crusades had a bad name even around here.

People will change their position on the Inquisition, too, when they learn that it was a fundamental aspect of Spain*s 400 year effort to drive the Mohammedans out of Spain.

I think Trump is right but wrong on how he articulates his message. Trump resonates with the average person because he states what most people really think. IMHO; I think the best message would be to stop ALL immigration until the US government can insure the people wanting to immigrate do not pose a threat to the American people. In addition, he should say we need to close and secure our boarder by any means necessary to protect the American people. I think if the focus is on protecting the American people while the libs and dems go through great lengths to protect the Muslim religion we win, by a large margin!

Because that’s his name. You’ll have to deal with it.

Saudi Arabia is considered an ally.

Therefore no connection to terrorism.

Tashfeen Malik came from Saudi.

Let me be as blunt as I can possibly be:

The idea that the Constitution prevents us from barring entry to this country of those who are committed to our subjugation or annihilation is just plain stupid. Those promulgating this view are at best dangerous ignoramuses.

If the Constitution was really such a suicide pact it would itself automatically be illegitimate. The God-given, unalienable right to self-protection is the first part of the natural law, which precedes and supersedes all man-made laws and constitutions.

Not only do we have NO moral or constitutional obligation to admit Islamists to our country, it is specifically against the law to do so:

~ The Immigration and Nationality Act passed June 27, 1952 revised the laws relating to immigration, naturalization, and nationality for the United States. That act, which became Public Law 414, established both the law and the intent of Congress regarding the immigration of Aliens to the US and remains in effect today. Among the many issues it covers, one in particular, found in Chapter 2 Section 212, is the prohibition of entry to the US if the Alien belongs to an organization seeking to overthrow the government of the United States by “force, violence, or other unconstitutional means.” ~

Islam is by its very nature hostile to our country, its people, and to our republican principles. Its object is to subjugate or, if necessary, annihilate us, by “force, violence, or other unconstitutional means.”

CRuz refused to attack Trump, and that is wise. Trump also isn’t attacking Cruz and that is wise. I hate politics. I really, really hate politics, which is party spirit - my guy has to kill the other guy. Both these guys want to protect America while keeping what makes us unique.

I think Trump gets it right with the Muslims more than Cruz does, because it’s not just about terrorism, it’s about people who also PEACEFULLY want to make sharia the law of the land (by gaining a demographiuc advantage through immigration and child-bearing, often while on welfare just like their allies the communists have planned to do to destroy America), and then the beheadings and enslavement can all happen LEGALLY, just like the abortion mills happen legally so there’s nothing we can do about it.

I think Americans are tolerant to a fault, and we’ve found one of these faults.

A religion’s expression among men can only be as good as the character of the deity which the religion affirms.

Jesus Christ is an all around champion, as good as it gets and that is staggeringly good. People can still construct selfish systems around His reputation but even those tend to be limited in how evil they can get.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to say that if you have a deity, call him Frffv, who is constantly telling you to slay people ruthlessly without limit, he has to be a cosmic meanie with a chip on his shoulder. Of course this Frffv is the Islamic Allah.

I don’t know if I am rubbing some people gratuitously the wrong way or if people are going nuts at what I say because it’s uncompromising to the best I understand. I’m trying to raise further awareness the best I can. By all means check it out in the scriptures and if I am mistaken then challenge me on my reading, and I may be able to support what I say or I may discover I need to modify it.

Cruz, Cruz. You don’t have any excuse here. How about believing the bible better. And if I sound proud to you saying so, I sound proud to you saying so.

This illustrates why I have not come out in support of Ted Cruz: He is tactically and legally brilliant, but politically brain dead, as his votes for the Corker Bill and the TPA illustrate.

Trump often mentions that he admires Gen George Patton and Gen Douglas MacArthur. Trump is like a general himself— and the greatest president ever George Washington was a mighty and brave general in the face of great odds.

Angola (who might be a communist country, I’m unsure) is very restrictive on Islam as well.

Heck, there is a semi-moratorium against Jehovah’s witnesses in some Russian cities it seems and they aren’t even a tad violent.

Yet somehow some “refugees” are getting their hands on EU passports and coming here- maybe it takes a while-but it is happening.

“He wants to let unvetted Muslims freely enter and exit our country ...” Ugh. No, he doesn’t.

So, are you saying he wants to vet all Muslims before they can enter the country? Does he want to fix the vetting system since the CIA, FBI, etc. all say it's broken?

That is not different than Trump.

I’ve heard some of the more horrible parts of the Inquisition came from flawed efforts of the Catholic Church to swallow Islamic peoples into its membership but not being too careful about what they believed. The result is that they still followed the Koran and were perfectly on board with medieval torture methods because of it. Of course Jesus was aghast.

“Ted Cruz may have just lost Iowa.”

Cruz doesn’t have to agree with every suggestion that Trump throws out.
I would trust Cruz more than anyone to keep our nation safe.

If popular uproar ends up forcing this, do you think Barack Obama might quit in a fit of pique?
