Ted Cruz: ‘I do not agree’ with Trump’s Muslim moratorium
WashTimes ^ | 12/8/15 | Seth McLaughlin -

GOP presidential contender Ted Cruz said Tuesday that he disagrees with rival Donald J. Trump's plan to ban Muslims from coming into the United States until the federal government can ensure that those coming into the nation do not pose a threat to the country.

"I do not agree with his proposal," the Texas senator said at a press conference on Capitol Hill. “I do not think it is the right solution.”

Mr. Cruz said that some have encouraged him to criticize Mr. Trump, but said he will not to so. Instead, he said he is pushing solutions aimed at putting a three year moratorium on refugees from Syria and Iraq, and giving governors more power to stop refugees from being resettled in their states.

Mr. Trump has tangled with most of the candidates in the GOP field ..with the exception of Mr. Cruz .. though he warned at a rally in South Carolina that he will respond in kind if Mr. Cruz attacks him.

Constitutional Rights, in general, and the 1st Amendment, in particular, do not apply to foreign nationals living overseas. The United States is under no obligation to permit immigrants from any country.

We could permit only immigrants from New Zealand who are non-muslim if we wanted to and there is nothing unconstitutional or illegal about it. The President actually has this power to exercise as it has already been granted the President by Congress.

Ted is wrong. For a smart man, he just made a stupid decision and statement.

Cruz and everybody else have yet to learn that patience is required when dealing with statements from Don-Don.

He throws a grenade into a fireworks factory and waits to see what happens when the smoke clears. A few days after the “inflammatory” statements...Trump is somehow vindicated.

The rush to condemn Trump without allowing some time to let it play out is a mistake made over and over by the one worlders and now some on our side.

You would think they would learn....

C’mon Ted. Patience.

Love ya Ted but what is wrong with stopping muzzie (or ALL) immigration for a time until we can evaluate how to really vet these imports? How many innocent dead Americans do we need as a wake up call?

That’s pretty business like of Trump, at least. It’s like if his buildings had problems with a particular brand of window, they would not use that brand of window again till they knew the reason had been taken care of.

Fault Trump for being a bull in a china shop. But sometimes the right bull is needed in the right china shop because all they’re doing in there is selling evil dishes.

You mean like the French Muslims, that are French citizens?

--- The ones who want to come under some kind of visitation policy or immigration policy aren*t required to be treated so high mindedly. ---

Absolutely.

I don*t attribute bad motives to Ted. But like I said, I attribute his position to a misapplication of the principle of religious tolerance, and he may not fully understand the fundamentally evil nature of Mohammedanism either.

Ted has jumped the shark on this one.

He wants to let unvetted Muslims freely enter and exit our country when we’re in a state of war and they continually try to kill our citizens.

Iran vows to destroy us.
ISIS vows to destroy us.
Al Qaeda vows to destroy us.
The Muslim Brotherhood vows to destroy us.

There is no Islamic country in which these groups do not exist.

Will Rafael Edward Cruz support Loretta Lynch arresting and prosecuting Trump?

I have no idea how you could come to that conclusion, unless you are blinded so much by Trump-love that you can’t think clearly.

I agree. I think the national security risk from Muslims is not just because of terrorism, and Trump is right to bring attention to the “no-go zones” in Europe. In addition to that, as others have said here, terrorists come in from more than just Iraq and Syria so Cruz’s plan doesn’t even take care of the terrorist threat. Cruz has 1st Amendment Constitutional concerns, as do I, but I think if there was a way to require genuine rejection of the sedition of sharia as the criteria for admittance that would keep it out of the religious realm, because sharia is a seditious assault against the US Constitution. The hard part would be trying to make sure that a renunciation of sharia isn’t just taqiyya. Maybe if evidence of POSITIVE action against sharia was considered evidence, and the testimony coming from non-Muslim neighbors. The specifics are murky, which is what makes it tough for anybody when it comes to vetting Muslims, because part of their religion is to lie. But I think we need to address the issue of sharia and not just terrorism. Ben Carson did a good job bringing the sharia question to light, but it didn’t get the same play as Trump gets.

Fickle. Maybe examine the evidence before so quickly jumping the Cruz ship.

Cruz says put a **moratorium** on Muslim immigration.

His statement isn*t even that strong.

Cruz is calling for a moratorium on immigration from Syria and Iraq only, AFAIK.

Trump is basically calling for a moratorium on Mohammedan immigration (until we figure this out).

Cruz is wrong on this subject. Too bad, he is the best conservative. He just lost. Americans are fed up, they also can read. They know islam is a problem and against our freedoms. A farmer does not let the fox into the hen house. He is smart enough to know it just wants to eat the chickens not live in peace, he shoots the fox.

I would suggest that Muslims who are citizens walk a very fine line. Treason includes giving aid and comfort to our enemies.

Section 3 - Treason
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

The Constitution is for Americans and OUR rights not everyone who thinks they can come here and demand them. Cruz knows that.

There you go calling Ted Cruz by his full birthname. Why do you do that? Do you think it makes Ted Cruz sound more sinister? It really is an odd affect.

And how would anyone know if they were from Syria? There are fake passports out the wazoo being handed out like candy.

Exactomundo--and Homeland Security and ICE are doing such a great bang up job filtering them in. Tsarnaov brothers anyone?

I am a Cruz supporter but that support has just taken a sledgehammer of a blow.

Ditto. I thought he was tougher than that.
