Chris Christie Escapes Kids’ Table For CNN’s Next GOP Debate
Yahoo News ^ | November 20, 2015 | Lisa de Moraes

Chris Christie’s back among the leads in the next episode of this TV season’s favorite reality series, The GOP Debates. CNN, which is airing the next episode, on December 15, this morning announced its casting criteria. Nine candidates look likely to make the cut for the RNC-sanctioned debate at The Venetian in Las Vegas, the network said: Donald Trump, Ben Carson, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, Carly Fiorina and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Rand Paul is however, a bubble-dweller at this point, and may be sent to the kids’ table.

Good news for Sen. Lindsey Graham and former Gov. George Pataki as well. They’re back in the debate, after getting a call back at the last GOP debate, which was telecast on Fox Business Network. Graham and Pataki will qualify for the kids’ table, and it looks as though they will join former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

New guidelines for the main debate: either 3.5% nationally or 4% in either Iowa or New Hampshire. Rand Paul is in as of today, but is on the bubble.

They need to quit finding excuses to expand the number of candidate on the stage. That CNN did this indicates it going to be another Media clown fest rather then a serious debate.

The standard ought to be at least 5% at this point.

This is just more evidence that the MSM will do anything to try and get rid of the “outsiders.”

children should be seen and not heard ...

ice the kid's table and their microphones ...there's no need nor point to anything they say

I listen with interest but it does no good except to muddy the water of the main debate

NO MORE KIDDY TABLE !!!

Agreed. To make them look like fools.

I can’t help but feel sorry for Christie, and not just because he’s part Italian. He really thought he had a chance. Ever. He is good for New Jersey. About as conservative as one can be and still win.

But he never had a chance with the conservative base.

Why do Northern republicans not realize this?

And why dont they run as dems?

borough president of Staten Island is only one in these parts that can be rock solid conservative and still win.

He should still be served only child portions at the table.

It is surprising how slowly things have been shaping up. I guess there’s still quite a bit of time before Iowa, but I was expecting more to drop out by this point. Are Pataki, Santorum, Kasich, Christie and Huckabee expecting a contagious heart attack epidemic to sweep the front-runners? Kudos for Jindal for being realistic about the state of things.

Good question. I’m guessing that they have books to sell or funds to raise. Did you see the original PAINT YOUR WAGON movie with Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin? At this point, they are merely mining the gold dust which falls under the saloon floor.

There is NO reason for that many to be on stage.

Yes I guess there is ONE, the one who is leading in all the polls, is not liked by them.

But flooding the field makes it tougher to take trump down in the debates. The gope would do better to force a trump rubio carson debate. 10 people on stage makes it harder for trump to say anything dumb. He can nust play rope a dope

I will be happier when it’s down to Trump, Rubio, and Cruz. I think those will be the three finalists. And I think the nominee will be either Rubio or Cruz.

There should have been. However IMHO the GOPe is hoping against hope that someone will catch fire and take out these “upstarts”.

Ah yes, keeping the field splintered like this can only help Trump who has the largest plurality of support. Good point.

They ought to invite the top 4 and only have one debate. This is nonsense.

This is only being done to support the false premise that Jeb should be one of the headliners.

You should pray that Rubio ISN’T the nominee. Either Trump or Cruz. Rubio needs to be taken out.
