Trump has leapt some 17 percentage points among likely Republican voters since Nov. 6, when he was essentially tied with Ben Carson at about 25 percent. Trump now captures 42 percent of those voters while Carson has fallen off slightly.

Among all Republicans – not simply likely primary voters – Trump holds a substantial edge over Carson, at 34 percent to about 20 percent, according to the Reuters/Ipsos poll.

Trump surges over 42% and we do not know what the crossover effect is. If it is anything like the governor-elect's 10% from Kentucky, Trump could conceivable be over 50% now.

Trump is the only one who will protect us. That’s a simple fact.

I will issue the same caveat with this poll that I would with the ones that showed Trump dropping hard - this is an outlier and needs to be confirmed by other polling before it’s really believable.

No wonder the Republican wing of the dimoKKKRAT party is in a panic mode. With the events going on in Paris his numbers will climb even more.

After tonite and what has happened in Paris, France, Trump is going to jump sky high in the polls. “Gentle Ben” Carson will sink like a stone.

Trump will likely take a little hit from his Iowa 'tirade', but tonight's events in Paris show that we can't afford to elect someone weak on immigration.

Trump by far is the toughest on immigration.

With what happened in Paris this leaves Trump and Cruz. The others are finished.

After today, Trump will look like a genius. Of course, its only common sense, but that is in short supply these days.

Trump is the only one who will protect us. That’s a simple fact.

I dov not need Trump’s protection. I do not want Trump’s protection.

For me, the fact is I find Trump untrustworthy for his embrace of socialized medicine, for his embrace of eminent domain not for a public use but to transfer one person’s private property to another, for his lack of familiarity with the Constitution and for his mindless bombast.

He is entertaining, but in my opinion he would be a disaster of a President on the scale of Obama. I don’t want a "new boss same as the old boss".

Trump pretty much sewed up the deal with the blockbuster Iowa speech last night. I don’t think any other candidate can touch him. This is Trump’s election to lose.

Good luck with that. There’s not another candidate who will take them on. But your vote, your decision.

Trump needs to include Dearborn, Michigan in his deportation plans. Legal or not.
