GOP frontrunner Ben Carson, in a 1998 commencement address, floated his own personal theory that the pyramids in Egypt were built by Joseph -- the biblical patriarch known for his coat of many colors -- to store grain, Buzzfeed reported.
In the speech -- given at Andrews University, a school with ties to Carson's Seventh-day Adventist faith -- the neurosurgeon shot down claim that aliens had built the pyramids. But he also disagreed with the archaeological consensus that the pyramids were constructed as tombs for the pharaohs.
âMy own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain,â Carson said. âNow all the archeologists think that they were made for the pharaohsâ graves. But, you know, it would have to be something awfully big if you stop and think about it. And I donât think itâd just disappear over the course of time to store that much grain.â ADVERTISING

I’m sure he’s a very nice guy.
It’s not too bright, but number one, he said it in 1998, back when he was a Democrat — he joined the Republican Party during the past year; number two, his belief about it has nothing to do with what his policies would be as POTUS — he’s pro-amnesty a good deal of the time, a gun-grabber part of the time, fairweather-pro-lifer, probably be a good choice for Surgeon General.
The pyramids built by the Hebrews during their time in Egypt were of mud brick and their ruins can be seen in the area of the Fayyum, date to the time of the Middle Kingdom, and that area has been irrigated since that time by the Canal of Joseph (it’s called that to this day, even in muzzie Mizraim / Egypt). The land of Goshen is often said to be in the eastern Delta, but clearly it was west of the Nile.
Those Middle Kingdom brick pyramids were *also* not used to store grain. :’)
The statement to Glenn Beck about no right to have semi-automatic weapons in cities was 2013. He's a dumbass body mechanic. He might be OK with a knife, assuming his assistants didn't do the work, but he can't think.
I admire when someone doubles down in the face of opposition, but typically one does that when one knows that one is correct.
Carson doubling down implies that he is either correct or arrogant. The former is unlikely.
Ted Cruz wouldn't. He's an educated, intelligent man and not my candidate. Carson's just showing the fruits of his urban philosophical underpinnings; Urban legend.
Hillary also lives about forty miles from BABYLON, NEW YORK. Revelation 17:5
I know Cruz wouldn’t say that, my point is that candidates bringing up silly theories about pyramids and such, during the Clinton administration is not going to be an issue, much less a deal breaker for most voters.
Maybe the pyramids were secret wine cellars.
I know that's your point. "Most voters" voted for Obola---twice. I don't care about them. I will not have that bizarre careerist, Carson, represent me in any way. I wish he would line his pockets and go away.
Some of the day interior photos are quite grainy.
This is 17 years ago. What is he saying now? That’s all that matters. What a guy says and not what happened long ago.
He said he still believes it. Yesterday.
That’s what I was thinking ... I guess we didn’t know they were mostly hollow. :-)
Okay. Time for Carson to leave the race.
The Pyramids are nearly solid. They served, among other things, as tombs, surveyor references, and astronomical functions. But granaries? Don’t think so...
He can think what he likes, but he should have kept his mouth closed about anything not related to his run for office. This is a ‘jump the shark’ moment.
He just doubled-down on it, to boot.
**GOP frontrunner Ben Carson**
I don’t think so.
“(people have said DUMBER things and gone on to be President... Twice)”
Five times if you count Klinocchio (twice) and Bozo the Peanut Farmer, victim of swimming rabbits.
