Walter Williams, conservative economist, professor, author, commentator, and occasional fill-in host for Rush Limbaugh, is the scheduled guest on C-Span2's "In-Depth" tomorrow, Sunday November 1. The show runs from noon until 3PM EST. It features discussion of Williams' writings and philosophy and responses to viewers' emails and call-ins. Williams' most recent book is American Contempt for Liberty. His other books include Race & Economics and Up from the Projects.

The first day back into "standard time" usually seems dark and depressing, but this at least should be three interesting, enlightening, and entertaining hours. Certainly a welcome change from the likes of Medea Benjamin who showed on one "In-Depth" a few months back - what was C-Span thinking????.......

My wife and I really loved it whenever he would fill in for Rush.

Sadly, his wife, whom he always spoke so well of (and of which he also joked about what some might be an “insensitivity” to her), passed on a few years back. I do hope he has successfully adjusted to her loss.

He’s a great guy.

Walter is a friend of mine for more than thirty years, and he is doing as well as could be expected given the loss of his soul mate of almost a half century. He is buoyed by the marriage of his daughter a few years ago and the birth of a grandchild a couple of years ago. No doubt basketball coaches around the nation are watching the development of this child as I recall Walter’s daughter being something like six-foot-two and her husband around six-foot-seven, roughly Walter’s height. We used to almost cringe when Walter came over or dinner at out house and saw him duck to come through the door, but I guess he was used to it.

I heard from him last about six weeks ago as he send me “get well” wishes following me breaking my hip.

He is a favorite of mine and I relished Rush being gone so he could be there.

Since radio is not visual, I conjured up a vision of a man that was 5 feet 8 or 9 and 160 pounds or so. Boy, did I ever get that wrong!

I don't own a television set, but last Sunday morning I passed on this thread to my old man back in NJ with a "Set your DVR" alert. He really enjoyed it. Thanks for thinking to post notice on FR.
