Walter is a friend of mine for more than thirty years, and he is doing as well as could be expected given the loss of his soul mate of almost a half century. He is buoyed by the marriage of his daughter a few years ago and the birth of a grandchild a couple of years ago. No doubt basketball coaches around the nation are watching the development of this child as I recall Walter’s daughter being something like six-foot-two and her husband around six-foot-seven, roughly Walter’s height. We used to almost cringe when Walter came over or dinner at out house and saw him duck to come through the door, but I guess he was used to it.
I heard from him last about six weeks ago as he send me “get well” wishes following me breaking my hip.
i have only this week learned he was 6 feet 5. It blew my mind
He is a favorite of mine and I relished Rush being gone so he could be there.
Since radio is not visual, I conjured up a vision of a man that was 5 feet 8 or 9 and 160 pounds or so. Boy, did I ever get that wrong!
