To: Intolerant in NJ

Thank you for this. I didn’t know about it.

My wife and I really loved it whenever he would fill in for Rush.

Sadly, his wife, whom he always spoke so well of (and of which he also joked about what some might be an “insensitivity” to her), passed on a few years back. I do hope he has successfully adjusted to her loss.

He’s a great guy.

Walter is a friend of mine for more than thirty years, and he is doing as well as could be expected given the loss of his soul mate of almost a half century. He is buoyed by the marriage of his daughter a few years ago and the birth of a grandchild a couple of years ago. No doubt basketball coaches around the nation are watching the development of this child as I recall Walter’s daughter being something like six-foot-two and her husband around six-foot-seven, roughly Walter’s height. We used to almost cringe when Walter came over or dinner at out house and saw him duck to come through the door, but I guess he was used to it.

I heard from him last about six weeks ago as he send me “get well” wishes following me breaking my hip.
