In a rare late-night session, the Senate gave final approval to an ambitious budget and debt deal early Friday, sending it to President Barack Obama to sign.
The final vote on passage was 64-35, as Democrats joined forces with Republican defense hawks over the objections of GOP presidential candidates Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Marco Rubio, all of whom voted against the deal. The bill is aimed at averting a debt default, avoiding a partial government shutdown and setting spending priorities for the next two years.
Earlier in Friday's session, the Senate voted 63-35 to end debate on the measure. The vote to approve the bill was taken just after 3 a.m. EDT.
Obama negotiated the accord with Republican and Democratic leaders who were intent on steering Congress away from the brinkmanship and shutdown threats that have haunted lawmakers for years. Former Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, felt a particular urgency days before leaving Congress, while lawmakers looked ahead to presidential and congressional elections next year.

I asked a question yesterday I really don’t know the answer to. Has any entrenched government in the history of civilization ever willingly ceded power? Is it ALWAYS by collapse, illegal takeover or violent overthrow?
And there is a possibility we already had our last election.
McCain, Flake, Ayotte: Three who bare-a**ed lied to get elected. Voted "yes".
That's five more votes that should've been "no" based on the will of the people.
My conclusion: We've won the battle of ideas. We lose the battle of controlling the ballot box.
Worse than that, Obungie is PO’ing China in their show of testosterone and just may start a war. What is the first thing Xi will do? Debt call? Ahem.
Wen Obama was elected I stated that. We just had a bloodless Coup d’état and no one noticed. I also said before he was elected that if he was elected he had no intention of leaving.
Cornyn has got to go.
He is worthless. He does not represent Texas at all.
Originated with him but let's not leave out his partner in crime. This blame lies with Senator Mitch McConnell. He has exploited Americans for far too long on our dime. Time for him to find a private sector job IMO. Primary him Kentuckians. Please.
So every Dem Senator voted aye? Geez, guess we know who REALLY wanted it.
Along with the usual suspects McCain & Grahamnesty.
For some reason, out of all the Yes votes from Republicans, Tillis from North Carolina surprised me the most. I think it’s because I thought he ran as a Tea Party guy. Maybe I didn’t get the whole picture with him. I don’t know.
Republican defense hawks - that title should be one of shame. They’re tax and spenders. We don’t have a good Defense Department, systems or military. What a joke.
Folks, I had to vote ‘yes’ for this garbage bill or else the entire military would collapse and the foe is at our door.
What a joke.
Castrating conservatives. They have one job and that’s the budget. The rest they can go on vacation for.
We have the most moronic, turn coat, liars, distrustful, socialistic, azzholes in congress claiming to be republicans in the history of the party.
With this one vote and only one vote they have taken away major compaign items republicans run on. Debt spending, increased taxes, stealing SS, funding murder of babies, proper budgeting, etc. What the heck are we going to campaign on in 2016?
I think they want Hillary to do a four-year term and then take over in 2020. I think the RNC believes that Hillary is too difficult to beat. I mean she wins Virginia and Florida it’s over. That is RNC talking, not me.
You got me thinking of that song now. What an awesome song. I love the break in that one.
If they cannot beat that lying beotch in 2016 then they can never beat a democrat. Talk about sitting right up on a fence post to be shot down with all the ammo that is available now is insanity, bordering on incompetence. Of all our candidates Trump is probably the only one that will pull out the filet knives, well maybe axes, and destroy her.
Cruz could beat her with intellect but the electorate could not recognize it.
We shall also see if the FBI is truly independent and indicts her. I know, wishful thinking.
America continues heading toward the “big cliff of no return” as the so called leaders of our country drive the bus at break neck speed.
The story gets even worse. Of the NO votes, the vast majority were show votes for the senators in more conservative states.
Take a good hard look folks. This is what showing up to vote in 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014 has gotten us: a late night vote to extend planned infanticide and to give harry, barry, and nancy everything else they wanted.
But be sure to vote because somehow, some way, and contrary to decades of evidence.. Next Time Will Be Different.
Why did we even vote in Republicans?
This makes it imperative we get an outsider as our candidate. Otherwise it’s business as usual.
