GOP debate on CNBC, October 28, winners and losers - your opinion
October 29, 2015

Posted on 10/29/2015 1:35:15 PM PDT by EveningStar

How did they do last night?

The big loser was CNBC and the media, of course, but I'm talking about the candidates.

BTW, "Who do you think won the debate?" is not the same thing as "Who do you like the most?"

What I think:

Excellent: Cruz (1st place), Rubio (2nd place), Christie (3rd place)

Good to very good (alphabetical order): Carson, Fiorina, Huckabee, Paul, Trump

Poor (alphabetical order): Bush, Kasich

Regardless of performance and standing, these people should leave the stage: Bush, Carson, Graham, Huckabee, Jindal, Kasich, Pataki, Paul, Santorum

What say you?

As long as the Right allows the Left to run the Right’s show, the Left wins (regardless of the whining on stage) and the Right and the American People lose.

I thought Jindal quit. Carson, despite what we think of him, still has a chance and should stick around. The rest, yes they should go away.

I didn't watch the debate. Went to church then watched baseball.

My nearest neighbor is about half mile, if they were outside probably heard my
reaction to Cruz dressing down the arrogant jackasses posing as moderators. Man that was sweet.

1.Undoubtedly the moderators were the worst losers of all. They provided for the whole world to see, undisputable evidence of their bias, their joined at the hips relationship with the Dems, their total and utter disdain for Republican candidates and the people they represent; and finally they lost all credibility on all subjects. 2.Next losers, Jeb Bush and John Kasish Everyone else starred at different movements with the top 3 being Cruz, Rubio and Christie. I love the Band of Brothers, 3 Musketeers commaradie that was so evident amongst all the candidates immediately after the debate and on todays interviews. I am very proud of all of them, except Bush, he missed the moment.

I would agree with your please leave list with the exception of Jindahl. I would like to see him in the top tier at the next debate. He has handily won the last two undercards and is way more conservative, substantive and insightful than, Bush, Kasich, Christie, Paul or Trump and Carson for that matter.

Cruz wins, with Rubio in 2nd. Christie had a good performance, but I’d prefer NOT to have to vote for him. Trump was over all good, held his own, but Cruz helped them all to settle out of the blame game more.

Rubio had a couple really great moments. However, I don’t trust Rubio, so he is not in my top 3. I don’t trust R. Paul that much either, but sometimes he delivers. Last night was not so great. Huckabee was good, but not really good, which he needed to be.

I did not see the exchange between Trump and Kasich, but I have read many times that Kasich has a hair-trigger temper. That is not what I want in a president. I want someone who acts instead of reacts. I want someone who shows composure and dignity. Enough of the petulant, childish behavior that has been on display by Obama, McConnell, Boehner, et al. I’d like to see some principled men take over in the WH.

I trust Cruz not to make an effort to make us a theocracy. WHY do people think that is all religious people are up to? I mean, really! We should’ve been more afraid of what the Marxists Obama, Clinton before him, and Hillary will do with a phone and a pen.

As for the rest, Carly was okay. Repetition is good when you are a classroom teacher, but it gets old stating the same facts over and over with her very careful head movements. I’m getting a little tired of it, myself.

Jeb should’ve declined to answer some of the questions, just talked about anything else. He might be more interesting on a different topic than politics. He’s not a bad guy, but his problem is that even though he was a good governor in a lot of ways, he has departed from many of the things he once held as beliefs. That’s troubling.

I am pleased, being a Cruz supporter, that he had a good debate. Is he perfect? Nobody up there is. Jesus was not on stage last night. But Cruz is as good a witness for Him as anybody up there and then some. He keeps his word. He stands with us. If we quit listening to the chatter of the political memes around us and stay focused, we’ll get a good candidate. We are going to have to learn how to filter the ads for truth because we know that all the conservative candidates are going to get hit hard, and I do mean hard. We’ve got to help others see that it is propaganda and to ignore it.

Cruz won. He channeled Newt’s anti-media posture from 4 years ago but what really put him over-the-top was remembering the last 5 questions that were asked and spitting them back in rapid-fire.

Christie came in second with the fantasy football answer, which voiced what everyone but the ultra-RINOs in the audience was thinking at that moment. Christie always wins the “drinking buddy” competition hands down.

Carson got in a few good digs against the left and did a good job parrying with the moderators. You could tell the crowd was on his side more than anyone else and that energy helped him.

Trump’s weakness was in seeming like he didn’t want to be there. He never tried to jump in to respond or ask for any extra time. He seemed like a kid in class who didn’t want to be called on. When he did talk, the answers were fine.

I thought Rubio did not do that well. His over-earnest style with every answer is becoming grating. I don’t see why any Republican would want to stand up there and compare themselves to Obama, Kerry and McCain. And, personally, I would like to know why he cashed in his retirement account. At least Trump explained why he did his bankruptcies.

Rand Paul seemed sane for a change, but also dull and forgettable. I don’t remember any big gaffes or any great moments.

Kasich had some good answers explaining why experience with balancing budgets is a good thing. But he faltered into bleeding heart compassionate conservatism too often.

Huckabee just vanished. I can barely remember him even being called on.

Fiorina flubbed it when she said she may not be people’s first choice. No need to reinforce those low expectations. She did not have a good explanation for being fired from HP. First she bashed, then praised, then bashed again the guy that fired her, depending on what quote of his was fed to her.

Jeb lost big league. There should have been a hook to drag him off stage after he agreed with the commies that we should regulate fantasy football.

I agree with your assessment. Everyone but Bush and Kasich did well to one degree or another, whether you like them as candidates or not.

Because so many did so well, picking the losers is easier than picking the winners, and probably more important at this stage of the game anyway.

Kasich was a loser. He apparently was trying to let his inner Trump out, but Kasich is no Trump, so Kasich just came off looking kind of crazed.

Bush of the other hand was THE big loser. Overall, I think Jeb was flat, weak, distracted, even lost, and didn’t catch on to what all the others figured out after Cruz handed Carl Quintanilla’s ass to him for all of his “have you stopped beating your wife questions”, namely, ignore their questions and say whatever the hell they wanted to say in their allotted time. Also, Jeb didn’t once fight for more speaking time, and ended up with the second least amount of time, with only Paul having less.

Rubio crushed Jeb when Jeb tried to attack Rubio about his Senate voting record, and that seemed to take the air out of Jeb’s sails for the rest of the evening. Christie also made Jeb look like a fool over Jeb trying to give a serious answer to the stupid fantasy football question.

And Jeb spent most of his time repeatedly yammering about what a wonderful gov he was, repeating these same things that he repeated ad nauseum in the earlier debates. Most of the rest of the candidates spent their time saying NEW things that they had never said in previous debates. Jeb really reminded me of a high-school debater who had a bunch of memorized facts and figures to spout when it became his turn to say something.

Aside from CNBC themselves and the media in general, Jeb was THE big loser because he HAD to have a breakout performance, and essentially he was a big zero.

Stock rising: Rubio, Cruz

Unchanged: Trump, Snarly, Carson

The Rest: Please just go away.
