Meet the F-16V Viper - the newest, most advanced fighter in the F-16 family that has just made its maiden flight.

Its hard to believe the f16 is just now getting radar.that scans digitally instead.of.mechanically.....what in essence is the radar version of phased array sonar.which has been in naval vessels for close to 30 years.
Does that make two or three times better than the F-35 now?
If you sprayed it with what they are coating the f15 stealth eagles with probably beyween 2-3 times better.
Yes i know that isnt the only thing that the f15se has changed to be more stealthy.
As a laugh, not so many years ago, the ChiComs first attempts at phased array radar for ships to mimic the AEGIS system had such serious problems with heat, they had cooling pipes running all over the exterior of the first ships with prototype systems.
Airborne stuff is crammed into much smaller volumes. It is an amazing piece of engineering to make an AESA work reliably in a nose volume formerly used for a mechanical radar.
The F-22 and 35 had the luxury of being designed for that from the start.
I agree wholeheartedly as sooner than later we better prepare and get ready for the “Final Crusade” Life is just too precious and short to put up with all the convoluted crap coming from the Middle East. And needless to say the so called religion of peace is a good part of the problem. Of course no one wants to admit it as it is not PC. Removing it from the equation wouldn’t solve all the problems but the world certainly would be considerably more peaceful.
Is that thing on the wing part of the new package?
There are "vipers" that can actually travel faster than that. Is the world prepared for those "vipers"?
They seem to have cured those problems.

The US sold a high end version including AESA to a middle eastern country several years ago.
Viper?
Meh....call me when they create an Adder....
:]
Both Raytheon and Northrop Grumman have developed retrofit AESA radars for the F-16 that take up less space and weigh less than the original mechanically-scanned AN/APG-68 radar they are designed to replace.
Not sure what "thing" you refer to, unless it is the conformal fuel tanks at the top of the root of the wings. Those are an option on most newer F-16s.
Also an option for the F-15 Silent Eagle and the Advanced Super Hornet.
a question of size and weight in the avionics bay, plus power and computer bus issues ...
