Kasich: I Brought Ford Jobs Back, Not Trump

GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump claimed credit Sunday for Ford Motor Company's plans to move a production plant from Mexico to Ohio.

Trump has been calling out Ford during his campaign, saying the automaker plans to move jobs from Michigan to Mexico, but Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who also is seeking the Republican presidential nomination, says the move from Mexico to Ohio had nothing to Trump's demands. "The truth is that Ford began moving jobs back to Ohio four years ago under the leadership of Governor John Kasich," the governor's campaign said in a statement to the press on Sunday night.

"Our country needs real leadership and not empty, false rhetoric," Kasich said. "Working as a team, we brought Ford production jobs back from Mexico to Ohio years ago. That's how things really get done. Hard work and teamwork brings results for the people."

When Kasich announced Ford was bringing the jobs to Ohio in 2011 the vice president of Ford North America Manufacturing said it was "enabled by the Governor and his strong leadership," the campaign noted.

The facts support Kasich. Nothing against Trump, but Kasich is right.

At the next debate will Kasich show up with a paper bag over his head? The unknown candidate.

I bet he promised Ford they could have Mexican illegals in Ohio. Not reason to go to Mexico for cheap labor.

I would guess Kasich is going to go after him, try to kick his axx. We’ll see how successful he’ll be. One thing they they both have in common, a temper and an unwillingness to back down.

Did you check out the pic of Kasich at the link?

He’d be doing us a favor if he put a bag over his head.

That’s great, John, but you want to bring the Mexicans here. Frankly, if they’re going to be building the cars anyway I’d rather them do it in Mexico.

Then why wasn’t Kasich trumpeting this months ago, when Trump first put this issue into his talk track?

You know what? It may have been Kasich, but all I remember is the Ford story has been Trumps from the beginning. Kasich sounds like the guy who tries to steal your accomplishments at work.

yeah, even if it’s true that he brought the jobs there, he’s a mess on a whole bunch of issues. I would NEVER vote for him.

Trump will get the credit because, honestly, unfortunately, i could ask the first 10 people i know who he is, and maybe 2 will.

all ten will know trump, and the eight will give him credit.

this move by Ford might give Kasich the Ohio vote in primaries, but it helps Trump in EVERY other state.

I think FORD will support Trump big, for president. Lots of business will be for Trump.

If Kasich did all this, it’s a shame no one heard about it.

Now Trump has been banging on FORD and hard, ever since he got into the race, making it impossible not to notice.

Poor Kasich.

For whatever many jobs he’s “saved”, Kasich wants to give tens of millions to Mexicans.

He is politician ergo not a sane rational human being — i did appreciate his work as budget underling and then chairman.

And saddled the taxpayers with expanded Medicaid under Obamacare, claiming it’s what God wanted us to do.
