Biden would have run if he thought he could have won

Vice President Joe Biden says in a new interview that he would have run for president if he thought he could have won.

“I’ll be very blunt. If I thought we could’ve put together the campaign that – that our supporters deserve and our contributors deserve, I’ll – I would have gone ahead and done it,” Biden said on “60 Minutes” late Sunday.

The interview is the first the vice president has given since announcing his decision not to run for the Democratic presidential nomination last week. Biden had been mulling whether to enter the White House race for several months, but said the process of grieving after the death of his son, Beau, in May closed the window on his chance to launch a presidential campaign.

“Look, dealing with the loss of Beau, any parent listening who’s lost a child knows that you can’t – it doesn’t follow schedules of primaries and caucuses and contributors and the like,” Biden said.

“You and everybody grieves at a different pace.”

Biden said rumors that his son asked him to run for president on his death bed are not true.

“Beau all along thought that I should run and I could win,” Biden said. “But there was not what was sort of made out as kind of this Hollywood-esque thing that at the last minute Beau grabbed my hand and said, ‘Dad, you’ve got to run,’ like, win this one for the Gipper.”

“It wasn’t anything like that.”

His wife, Dr. Jill Biden, sat in on part of the interview and said she was urging him to run.

She said she was afraid all of their work would be undone if Democrats lost the White House in 2016.

“What about education? What about community colleges?” she said. “I felt like we were – everything we worked so hard for in this administration, you know, could all – could just all change.”

The vice president said he felt ready to run toward the end of the summer, but noted that the grieving process has many ups and downs and some days were better than others.

Biden, who has unsuccessfully run for president twice before, said he will not seek political office again in the future.

“No, no. I can do so much more, I believe,” he said. “I hope I leave office in – as a respected figure who can convene people and bring people together.”

One thing I noticed about Biden last year, was that he has a relatively low net worth, for someone in such a high position. If the number I recall seeing was accurate.

Clinton has what, maybe 100 million now?

Biden has less than 500,000 if I recall correctly. Running for President of America takes a bit more than that, really.

I think he just couldn’t afford to compete with Hillary.

It is odd he said “no” right before the Benghazi hearing.
Maybe Hillary told him she would spill the peas about his
role during the hearing, if he didn’t drop out.

That's what Trump said .

Thank God America is awakening.

Forbes magazine recently calculated that Bill & Hillary have made $230 million since leaving the White House.

He’d make more on the speaking circuit for the next 4 years.

If it’s an actual fair election this time then no one from the left is going to win.

Maybe I recall that incorrectly, but that was the impression I had.

Sorry if that is incorrect.

But his son told him to before he, his son that is, died.

That’s a respectable amount, but not even up to where I think he would need to compete with Clinton.

Not even close.

One thing interesting, it seems that Obama and Palin are almost at the same place. I thought that was interesting.

Palin however was not in the same ballpark with Romney. That may have been part of what the reason she stood down was, last time around.

They’re all doing well, but Romney had a much larger war chest last time around.

I’d bet that BigEars told him he wasn’t going to allow the justice dept to indict Hitlery.

Or he told him to wait until Hillary was indicted.

Check the beginning of the article transcript. Slow Joe checked himself referring to running in the present tense.
